In the Garden

I have been spending a great deal of time in the garden.

It is my favorite place to be.

Weeding, digging, and planting has always been therapeutic for me.







When my hands are busy in the soil, the cares and trials of life tend to disappear.









 I can focus on the work at hand and appreciate the beauty of a simple flower or how the greenery moves in the breeze.








It also serves as inspiration.









 It connects me with our Magnificent Creator.









It restores my soul.








Praying each of you today can find something that brings joy and peace.  It just may be found in the garden.

A Bit Late


So sorry dear friends for posting a bit late.  With it being the holiday weekend just got busy with a cookout gathering and such.  Hope all of you who are celebrating Memorial Day have a lovely one.

Thought I would share a few happenings today.

Discovered two little baby robins this past week.


There this is a better shot.  Don't want to get Mama upset by getting too near the nest.


She has been keeping a careful watch.








The variety of this peony escapes me but am so delighted with how it is  a lovely rosy peach, turns lighter and then white.  Planted it back a couple of summers ago and each year it seems to have more blooms.  This is where a garden journal would come in handy.  Maybe in my "next life" will keep one :)!!

Last but not least - look who turned a year old last week.  She has been a challenge getting her to this point.

After several pair of shoes gone...eyeglasses chewed, replacement of two sets of bathroom rugs, a garden hose and trying to keep holes in the yard filled - we think she is here to stay.  Is she spoiled?  You betcha!!

A Lovely Finish


 May is leaving us with a lovely finish.

The clematis has started to bloom...







Spiderwort and Yellow daylilies are giving us a show...







The pink peonies are bursting forth...








White Campanella bells are standing tall as the month of May waves farewell.







Lastly one must not forget the foxglove.  They too wanted to say good by.

On that note I will say good night and wish all of you a lovely finish to your month of May.

Busiest Month


 May is the busiest month of the year for me.

There is work indoors and outdoors.  Never seems to be enough time in the day to get things done.  Is anyone else finding the same situation?






If so come away with me for a moment and rest in the beauty of a peony blooming...








  or watch a hummingbird drink a bit of nectar...








take a break and just rest ...








and finally look up and see the sun beginning to set  at the end of the day.

Contentment

In the midst of life and all that is happening in the world finding contentment may be a challenge.











I am discovering it in the quiet of  a lovely afternoon of rest...









In the beauty of the moment that gives me time to take pause...



and find delight in a furry thief that makes me smile.

Decoration Day


Hubby reminded me that many years ago Memorial Day was once called Decoration Day.  It became a federal holiday in 1971.

Tomorrow in America we will be celebrating this special holiday.  It continues to be a time that one can stop and remember all those who gave their lives for our freedom.
