Returned

Hi friends, I've returned.  It is good to be back.

Had a good break.  Looking forward to catching up with all of you.  Will be around to visit soon.

July here at Harmony Hills was extremely hot and dry.  Fortunately the white phlox survived the heat and has blessed us with some lovely blooms.

The pink lilies have such a sweet scent. Always enjoy their fragrance when gathering veggies.

Speaking of veggies...the squash and zucchini are producing lots of fruit.  I think zucchini bread is on the menu soon.

The little hummers are busy buzzing everywhere.

They seem to be enjoying the beginning of August.

They really adore this Rose of Sharon bush.  I think the color attracts them.  They are always stopping there to rest and gather some nectar.

Gunnar turned a year old in July.  He weighs 80 pounds.  He is one busy boy but very sweet.

Well I will go for now...looking forward to seeing what has been happening with each of you.

Have a great week.

Hugs

Debbie

A Delightful Challenge

Kathy at Catching Happiness has created a Daily Delight challenge for the month of May.  She and I have been blogging buddies for years.  Always look forward to reading her posts.  If you have not stopped by to visit just click on the above link to check out her blog.  I am excited to participate.  Hope perhaps some of you will join in.

May brings so many delights.  I will try not to bore you as there are more than enough to fill this month's calendar.

The yellow daylilies in this photo certainly are ones that must be noted.

Billowing sheets in the breeze is another favorite.

The colorful Baltimore Oriole who is here visiting.

Oh and of course the return of the hummers.  They never fail to bring a smile.

The last, I promise,

Kelsey who turn two this month.

Thank you for allowing me to share some of my daily delights.

Please take time to tell me a few of yours.

Hugs!

Debbie

Contentment

A wonderful virtue is contentment.  It can be found in the abundance of gifts that arrive here in June.

Peonies that grace the garden...

a robin seeking sustenance...

Fields of green...

the promise of cherries soon...

and always those special visitors.

All of these and so much more fills one's soul with contentment.

Wishing each of you the same.

Hugs!

Debbie

P.S. Thank you for best wishes to the bride and groom.  The day started out wet and chilly but by the time they left the chapel the sun was shining :)!

Enjoying

In spite of the dry weather we are enjoying the veggies that can be picked daily.

Did I mention one can never have enough zucchini - well possibly it is time to pass a few along to some friends and neighbors :)!

These lovely lilies are one of my favorite flowers that bloom in August.  They bend their petals downward instead of opening up to the sky.  They grow tall and don't seem to mind the heat and lack of moisture.

Garden phlox is another perennial that blooms later in the summer.  They are not as joyful as the lilies but their fragrance makes up for their lack of show.

The little hummers continue to visit and keep us very entertained.

Well dear friends this is what we are enjoying at Harmony Hills this week.  Hope you will take a minute to share something that is bringing you joy.

Summer Moments

Here are a few summer moments.

A field freshly mowed.

Mrs. Hummer swooping in for a sweet drink.

Blackberries ripening in the midst of brambles.

 A moth gathering nourishment.

Sweet Anne's Lace dancing in the breeze.

Last but not least this pink day lily blooming during its brief visit.

All of these summer moments make me grateful.

Hope each of you are finding a few wonderful moments as well.

Busiest Month

May is the busiest month of the year for me.

There is work indoors and outdoors.  Never seems to be enough time in the day to get things done.  Is anyone else finding the same situation?

If so come away with me for a moment and rest in the beauty of a peony blooming...

or watch a hummingbird drink a bit of nectar...

take a break and just rest ...

and finally look up and see the sun beginning to set  at the end of the day.

Hope your visit here helped you to pause and relax a bit.

Hugs

If I Could

I would wrap up the month of June and present it as a gift just for you.

I'd invite you to join me and take a moment to watch this hummer enjoy her nectar...

or take a garden tour and check out what is blooming... Columbine -

spider wort... (don't you just love the color of lavender??) -

these fragrant pink peonies... they certainly have the smell of June...

or sample some sweet strawberries...

while we jaunted across a freshly mowed hay field.

Yes I would certainly delight in giving you this perfect gift of June - if only I could.

Have a great week.

Hugs

Debbie

America

Here in America tomorrow we will recognize Memorial Day.  For many it will not be possible to gather to celebrate this holiday.

Our world has changed and even though many of us are beginning to go out and about - we are finding that life as we knew it is not the same.

There is a longing for what was and may never quite return.

Yet in considering the veterans of the past we know the abiding loving spirit of those men and women continues to live on in many hearts today.  That has not changed.

We see it in the faces of the nurses and doctors and all those who have risked their lives to save others during this pandemic.  May we honor these special heroes tomorrow as well.

To all my dear friends in other parts of the world may you too take time to remember those who have worked diligently to keep you safe.

God Bless

Debbie

First Days of May

The first days of May were filled with wonderful happenings.

These Azalea bushes donned their beautiful blooms to usher in this merry month.

Then guess who returned...

the sweetest little visitor.    I know he will be staying a while.

This wee one made his first fledgling flight.   He had a rough start - landed hard but as you can see  managed to make it to a branch for safety.

Shelby and Schindler kept a careful watch to make certain he was fine.

I got busy and bottled up some spring...Dandelion/Rhubarb Jelly.   When winter arrives this delicious treat will be a great reminder of the early days of May.  (Might not last that long - lol)!

To finish...

saved the best til last...
Hubby built this special flower cart with his own two hands.  Me thinks he is a "keeper" for sure!

Well I hope everyone enjoyed their visit this week.   If the rest of the month remains this full - May will fly by fast.  Let's make a plan to savor it.

God Bless!

Debbie
