Transformation

The transformation of spring to summer is unfolding.  Even the bank of clouds are taking on a different appearance.

Quick pop up storms come. They leave - waving good bye with a rainbow.

The flowers continue to change almost daily.  Pink poppies and larkspur with orange daylilies replace the fading peonies.

Jackmanii clematis is climbing higher with each passing day.  It will continue to bloom through the next few weeks.

Something that is not changing is this fellow...He still wants to play.  In fact with daylight being longer - he thinks outdoor fun should be extended.   Guess I am feeling the same too.

Hope you all have a blessed week.  Please share what transformations you are seeing with summer's arrival.

Hugs

Debbie

Contentment

I find great contentment in the arrival of the autumn season.  It generally brings

mornings that are cool and crisp - afternoons warm and sunny...

clear blue skies...

small yellow moths that visit the meadows...

wild asters that grow along the fence rows and dot the countryside...

and a pleasant place to sit awhile soaking up God's beautiful gift called autumn!

Have a blessed week friends.

Beginnings

April for me is the month of beginnings.

The cheery daffodils blooming always chase away the gray of winter.  They are just the start of all the pretty flowers that will make lovely bouquets.

The birds have a new song.  In the early mornings their chirps sound so sweet.

They are an inspiration to this artist's heart.

Yes the month of April brings great beginnings.

Hope you are enjoying some too.  Thanks for stopping to visit.   Always so glad when you do.

Hugs!

Lovely March Day

It was such a lovely March Day to be outdoors.   Who can resist sunshine and blue skies?

Spotted this blue squill blooming amidst last year's garden debris.  It made me smile.  Such a tiny flower but in no time the entire garden will be bursting with little spring bulbs.

Speaking of gardening - these seed packets called to me from their rack at our local store.  Yes, it is a bit soon to start planting outdoors.  Not so, though for getting a head start inside.  I will find a sunny window and plant a few seeds.  Hope that will help the wait :)!!

Thought this rosy sky made a great end to a lovely March day.

Have a blessed week!

Eleven Years

It was eleven years ago on a Sunday, February 12, 2012 that this blog began.

I can remember being a bit apprehensive hitting that publish button for the first time.

Bet lots of you felt that way too when you wrote your first post.

There is something exciting as well as scary putting yourself out there for strangers to read your thoughts and make comments.

What is wonderful though, is those strangers become your friends.

They share their lives...their creative ideas...

their hopes and dreams.  They visit you and fill your life with encouragement.

Reflecting back over the past eleven years I can say my life is so much richer for having pushed that first publish button.  If I had not, I would not have all of you for friends and that would make me poor indeed.

Kelsey  at almost 9 months

Thank you for your faithful visits and taking time to share your journey in this life with me.

God Bless

Debbie

May Happenings

Here are just a few of May happenings.

Yes Mrs. Hummer has returned.  She and her friends are keeping me quite busy with  the making of sweet nectar.

That sliver of orange is a our Baltimore Oriole.  He likes to visit not only his feeder but the Hummers as well.

The bunny cart got filled this weekend with some favorite annuals.  She had been looking kind of lonely but now she has some company.

Snap Dragons and violas don't mind if a night turns chilly.  In fact they seem to prefer cooler weather.

Skies at dusk this time of the year are delightful.  I never tire of "looking up".

Speaking of looking up, one could not miss this full moon.

Well these are just a few of May happenings at Harmony Hills.

I will be stopping by to visit each of you and find out what might be happening in your part of the world.

Hugs

Debbie

P.S. Will not be here next week because we will be involved in a special event...our nephew is getting married.   God willing - will return in two weeks.    Have a lovely end of the month.

Memories of Mom

I have so many wonderful memories of Mom.

Today with it being Mother's Day I pulled out one of her journals and read a few pages.  It was dated July 1995.  She mentioned that she and I had gone shopping and ate lunch at a quaint place "River Biscuit Inn".  I had forgotten about this restaurant until I read Mom's words.

For just a brief moment we were once again together laughing and enjoying the lovely food and atmosphere.  It was like a special visit with her as sweet memories of that day transported me to another time and place.

Fortunately Mom and I had so many of those type of days.  Grocery shopping together, visiting local gardens and nurseries, library stops and just enjoying a cup of coffee and looking at old recipes made ordinary times extraordinary.

Often after spending a day together
She would say to me "it was the best day" and I would say "it certainly was".  Then she would say "I just don't want it to end."  I'd reply "me too Mom!"

May God Bless All Mothers Today!

I know all of you are doing the same.

December

Today did not look like a December day.  The snow we had last week is gone.  It did not stay for  long.

The sky was a breathtaking blue...not a cloud to be seen.

Red rose hips glistened in the sun.

Even a few blackberry leaves were still clinging to their branch.

No it did not feel like a day in December.   Hard to believe it is less than two weeks until Christmas.

Are you ready?

Hope everyone has a blessed week.

Good Morning Friends

- wishing all of you a wonderful start to November.

It is an early Monday as I write this post.

We are seeing a change in the weather...temperatures are cooler and a killing frost is in the forecast for us this coming week.

So unusual to still be picking zucchini this late in the season.  What an unusual autumn!

Even the trees were reluctant to don their fall colors.

Maybe this means winter might be late!!  We will just have to wait and see.

Well dear ones have a blessed week.

Hugs!

Prayers

On this Sunday I am asking for prayers.  Some of you may have heard that their was a group of missionaries from Millersburg, Ohio as well as Canada that were kidnapped yesterday in Haiti.  They had been working at an orphanage and were at the airport getting ready to return home when they were abducted by a gang.

Please "look up" for them and pray they will be kept safe.

Thank You and God Bless!

Do You ever wonder...

why the sky is blue...

certain flowers flourish in the heat...

others not so much.

Why a butterfly selects the common clover for its nectar...

or one type of tree bears apples...

and another peaches.

Finally what makes this a cat

and this a dog?

Silly questions for sure.  Yet if we had the answers to these - then perhaps we just might have wisdom to solve the bigger concerns that this life holds.

Thank you for letting me share my wondering with you.

Have a blessed week.

Hugs

Sabbath

For the next couple of weeks I will be taking a wee bit of a blogging Sabbath.   The charms of the garden are calling me... Some new pastel...
