Abundance

 The word "abundance" brings to mind this season of the year.  It evokes the feeling of more than enough.

The meaning according to the dictionary, states that it is a large quantity of something.

The Topical Bible addresses it to mean, "to be heavy", "to overflow", or "to plait together", to "augment" and to "multiply".  Clearly within each of these descriptions we find a surplus that can be shared. 

So with this in mind I will share a few of the lilies that are in bloom...

Last, but not least this cheerful zinnia patch.

Reading

 As I have shared in the past, August is generally a big reading month for me.  The garden is slowing down.

There are a few lovely beauties that bloom during this month but they don't require much maintenance.

 So with a bit more time I am catching up on my reading.

"Guide your Mind, Guard your Heart, Grace your Tongue" by Carol Burton McLeod is a wonderful book full of inspirational advice.  I have been privileged to follow Carol's blog for several years and enjoy her enthusiasm for God's word as well as her great insight in how to apply it today in this present world.   Highly recommend it for anyone who is desiring a better way to think.

 The second book is "Look Closer Draw Better" by Kateri Ewing.

She shares mixed media drawings and how to approach a realistic look.  There are projects in graphite, pen and ink, watercolor, and charcoal.  Also some of her lovely art is showcased within these pages.  Excellent book for anyone who enjoys drawing and wants to improve.

 Last but not least is "Letter from Home" by Carolyn Hart.  She is a mystery writer.  She is an author who has written two best selling mystery series "Henrie O" and "Death on Demand".  This book takes place in Oklahoma.  Since I am only into the first few pages will have to give you an update later but thus far it has me intrigued.

Well that is what is on my current reading list this month.  Hope you will share if you are enjoying a good book or two.

Butterflies and Other Lovely Gifts

 August has brought us butterflies and other lovely gifts.

I spotted this Monarch on today's afternoon walk .  Are not these purple thistles a pretty lavender color?

The black Swallowtail was gathering his nourishment from the clover as we traveled by.

These lilies must have offered the perfect spot to attract another visitor to stop and enjoy a drink.

Our peach tree is full this month and gifting us with the sweetest of fruits.  

Iron Weed and Golden Rod make such a complimentary duo.  They are two wildflowers that grow together in August's meadow.

Speaking of twosomes - Schindler and Shelby are generally close by.  Today's walk was no exception.

Good Ending

I love a good ending.   How about you?

It can be found in the last page of a book ...a final scene of a movie or the finish of a challenging project.  

Thought I would share a few of my good endings with you today.

The peaches will soon be ripe.

When they are - there will be pie.   That should be a good ending😋!  

 These lilies always arrive late in the summer season but they make the garden's end a delight.

   

Long shadows ...

and a neighbors harvest all say it was a good day's end.

Farewell July

Time to say farewell to July.   Her visit was so lovely.   She brought us pretty flowers...
