As I have shared in the past, August is generally a big reading month for me. The garden is slowing down. There are a few lovely beauties that bloom during this month but they don't require much maintenance.
"Guide your Mind, Guard your Heart, Grace your Tongue" by Carol Burton McLeod is a wonderful book full of inspirational advice. I have been privileged to follow Carol's blog for several years and enjoy her enthusiasm for God's word as well as her great insight in how to apply it today in this present world. Highly recommend it for anyone who is desiring a better way to think.
She shares mixed media drawings and how to approach a realistic look. There are projects in graphite, pen and ink, watercolor, and charcoal. Also some of her lovely art is showcased within these pages. Excellent book for anyone who enjoys drawing and wants to improve.
Last but not least is "Letter from Home" by Carolyn Hart. She is a mystery writer. She is an author who has written two best selling mystery series "Henrie O" and "Death on Demand". This book takes place in Oklahoma. Since I am only into the first few pages will have to give you an update later but thus far it has me intrigued.
Well that is what is on my current reading list this month. Hope you will share if you are enjoying a good book or two.
Have a lovely week friends.
Hugs
Debbie

ReplyDeleteYour Shepards look very happy.
ReplyDeleteA great week to you, Debbie
The McLeod books sounds like what I should read first.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting me. Yes my Shepherds are very happy and they make me happy too! Hope you do read Carol's book. Have a great week.
DeleteYour dog looks content on your beautiful lawn and gardens. I am reading The Complete Father Brown by G.K. Chesterton and a book I think you would love, Beholding and Becoming: The Art of Everyday Worship by Ruth Chou Simons, her paintings grace her book.
ReplyDeleteSounds like great books! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI also loved the Beholding and Becoming book by Simons, and her book Gracelaced. The paintings are wonderful too and her lovely faith is inspiring. I am going to look up the drawing book you are reading. Love and hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad to hear you love reading, Debbie. I don't read as much any more, cause my tired eyes can't see the small font that is mostly found in hard cover books. "Guide your Mind, Guard your Heart, Grace your Tongue".......those are really good words to start my week off. : ) Enjoy your reading!

Love your photos. We rarely read but are listening to Johnny Joey Jones, Unbroken Bonds of Battle. Mostly about Marines, but a few other heroes. I'll check out the mystery
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy looking at your reading suggestions and checking them out...often to become fond of the author's work. Thanks for the suggestions. I downloaded "Letter From Home" to my iPad. I do a lot of reading in the summer when I go to the pool and then in the evening when there isn't anything interesting to watch. Have a great week and enjoy your reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the book suggestions...and I love your pups!
ReplyDeleteHappy week!
hugs
