"Rainy Days & Mondays"

I am sharing one of my favorite songs from the 70's "Rainy Days and Mondays" by the Carpenters.   It seems appropriate since we have had several days of rain here.

There are certain lyrics and music that transports one to another time and place.   This one takes me back to the front porch of my childhood home.   It was where the old turn-style record player was kept.  ( Remember those?  If one moved too much the needle would jump.) There was a comfortable rocking settee close by.  It was a favorite spot to curl up to read and listen to all those great songs that still remain classics today.

Actually rainy days don't get me down.  They provide extra time to work in the studio.  It is a great opportunity to draw and paint those spring flowers that the showers have brought.

Thank you for letting me share a favorite song and a few memories.   May your "Rainy Days and Mondays" not get you down!   Have a wonderful evening and God Bless you all.

Flowering Quince

This flowering quince was an Easter gift from my folks.  It has a gorgeous coral color.  Later there will be fruit that can be used for jelly.   Hmm not only a beautiful plant but one that bears something sweet as well.

Are not those blossoms just begging to be painted?  What do you think?

Speaking of painting I just could not resist gathering a few of these pansies.

They make such pretty subjects.   Ones I never tire of capturing in a sketch.

It was so nice of you to take a moment to visit.   Hope you have a lovely week.

Spring has finally Sprung!

After a long winter spring has finally sprung!

Warmer days have brought life to the beds and borders here at Harmony Hills.

The daffodils refuse to be daunted by spring's flirtatious ways.  They are familiar with the ups and downs of the season.   Cheerfully they dance in the breeze.
The Virginia Bluebells are starting to be brave and show some color.   They are such sweet companions in the garden.

This is such a lovely time of the year.

It  inspires me to leave the indoor tasks behind and follow my heart down the garden path.   I hope you will join me.

May you have a wonderful evening!

Sketch books

There are so many types of sketch books to choose from these days.

These are the three I am using presently.

The top one has handmade watercolor paper...

It is what I use for nature studies in water color and ink.   The paper is rough textured.  Certainly would purchase another one of these again.

The middle one is a Flex Sketch - perfect size to take with you when you want something small and easy to carry...

great for pen and ink and dry media.

The last is hard bound.  A Pentalic that has acid-free paper.   It is nice for just doodling.

Does one need more than one sketch book?
No. Still when I go shopping for art supplies there always seems to be one that ends up in my cart.   Just recently purchased a Stillman & Birn Beta Series.   Not sure what it will contain...maybe landscapes or such.    Will let you know.

Thanks so much for stopping by.   Have a great evening.

Hope

"but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."   Isaiah 40:31.

May this wonderful season of hope renew all your spirits.
Have a beautiful Palm Sunday.   God Bless!

Thank You!

WIP
Sarge and I wish to thank all of you for your precious thoughts and prayers.   He has improved immensely in the last two days.

We remain quite hopeful that the arthritis medication will work.   He is getting up much more easily and does not seem to be in pain.  I believe this is because so many of you prayed.

Thank you once again for looking up for us!   God Bless and have a wonderful Sunday evening!

P.S.  I think spring has finally come to our neck of the woods...flowers are starting to bloom - will share later!

Sarge

Dear friends if you have moment would you  look up for Sarge.   I would be so grateful.  He has hip dysplasia and is struggling.   Had him to the vet yesterday afternoon (emergency) could not walk.   They gave him pain medication.  Saturday he will begin taking arthritis medicine...praying it works.

As so many of you know he is the "other Man" in my life.   He will be eleven in the fall.    Just not ready to let him go.

Thank you for letting me share this request.   Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.     God Bless!

Sow

It is the time of the year when I begin to sow seeds for the coming season.  Discovered a different method on You Tube...they call it "...
