Celebrating

Here in the USA many are celebrating Red - White & Blue today.  We are!

A picnic at a friend's home is planned later this afternoon.  It will be quite a crowd.  A lovely lady who is 92 years young hosts a 4th of July celebration every year at her lake.  She furnishes the burgers and hot dogs and everyone else brings a covered dish.  An amazing woman who still works as a hostess at one of the local restaurants.  One would never guess her age because she certainly would fool those who meet her.  Later in the evening there will be fireworks...what a great way to celebrate the 4th!

Our contribution is a black raspberry pie...

all American potato salad...

and hubby's favorite gluten-free Mississippi Mud brownies!

Thinking this fellow may want to join us.  He certainly is dressed for a Red/White & Blue celebration.

Wishing everyone a very Happy 4th of July!  Blessings to all my friends in other lands...may your day be wonderful as well.

Hugs

Debbie

Slow Down

WIP

I am wishing the summer would slow  down.

Zucchini (croquettes) and yellow squash are rushing to bear fruit.

Blackberries are in a hurry for you know what...

   Pie!

Day lilies are quickly opening.

Even summertime seems to be making this fella grow fast.

Ah how I wish the season would slow down!

How about you?

Hugs Debbie

Peach Pickin and Porch Sittin

Peach Pickin... and Porch Sittin... two pleasures of summer.

The process of picking peaches brings me a sense of satisfaction.   I enjoy getting out the ladder and climbing high to reach the sweet juicy fruit.  When the baskets are filled and overflowing I bring them indoors.  I will freeze some for winter, make a bit of jam and of course there must be a pie!

Sitting on the porch in the early mornings gives me perspective before starting the day.  Hubby and I often have our coffee there before we go to work.   We watch the hummingbirds frolic and listen to the sounds of a day's beginning.   For just a bit time stands still.
I may even have a moment to do a quick sketch of some flowers.

Glad I could share some of my summer pleasure.   Hope you will tell me about yours!
God Bless!

Sabbath

For the next couple of weeks I will be taking a wee bit of a blogging Sabbath.   The charms of the garden are calling me... Some new pastel...
