"Spring"

April has brought us "Spring".  All the flowers decided to put on an early show.

Generally the bluebells and tulips do not bloom until the end of April but here they are in full swing.

Patches of Violets are everywhere...

The apple blossoms are fully out...

and the Azaleas have dawned their pink petals.

Yes my friends, April has brought us spring.

Hope all of you are enjoying nicer weather and seeing God's beauty everywhere.

Have a wonderful day.

Hugs

Debbie

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."  Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV)

Reminded

Seeing this lovely violet patch blooming reminded me that I had been wanting to gather a few.   Many years ago I had candied some to decorate a cake for my beloved mom.

April was her birthday month and she loved flowers, the color purple and the taste of lemon.

In life there are many things that remind us of those we love.  It may be a scent, a sound, or even a certain way the light falls that transports us back to a good memory.

For me violets are one of those special reminders.

They may be small but they call to the child in me.

The pleasure of picking a few for a bouquet and giving them to someone special never fails to make me smile.

In memory of Mom I chose to bake a batch of lemon cookies and decorate them with sugared violets.

Is there something special that brings you a good reminder?  Hope you will share.

Have a lovely start to May.

Hugs

Debbie

May's Arrival

With the arrival of May the garden starts to burst with color.  The tulips begin to put on quite a show.  Virginia bluebells have settled in every nook and cranny.
They are quite neighborly with the daffodils.

Creeping phlox has started clambering over the banks.

Sweet violets cover woodland paths.   They are such a favorite of mine.

May certainly brings an abundance of flowering gifts.   I am so glad you stopped by to see it arrive.

Have a blessed day!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter !  I've been cooking today instead of painting.  My Mom will turn 74 tomorrow.  The family will gather here not only for the holiday but to celebrate her birthday.  I try to bake something special every year for this occasion.   Decided to make a lemon dessert roll.  Gathered some sweet violets and sugared them for decoration.

Enjoy creating every day whether it is is in the studio or the kitchen, or garden.   I think making something or adding a special touch to an otherwise mundane task feeds the soul.

The lovely azaleas that grow by the deck are out in full array.   It is so wonderful to see the flowers blooming for Easter.   One never knows what to expect this time of the year.   We are blessed.

May Your Easter be blessed as well.  Thanks for stopping by.

How about...

taking a moment with me to smile... Mine are on the line...better bring them in before it rains! Forget the dancing...just getting out of ...
