"There Rings a Melody"


 In the spring I find myself humming an old hymn "In My Heart There Rings a Melody".

When the azaleas burst out...






 the tulips and bluebells blossom...








the dogwood blooms...








and the garden comes alive.   All these make my heart ring with "heaven's harmony".  

How about you?  Does your heart want to sing?  Hope so.

"My Mother's Prayers Have Followed Me"

There Is an old hymn that comes to mind today..."My Mother's Prayers Have Followed Me".

My beloved Mom was a woman of prayer and I know she prayed for me throughout her life.

Today I am so grateful for all those prayers.

"His Eye is on the Sparrow"


   This little sparrow reminded me of an old hymn we sang many years ago.   Unfortunately we don't seem to sing it much now.   "His Eye is on the Sparrow"  written by Civilla D Martin.   The tune was by Charles H Gabriel.

The words to the first stanza are:

"Why should I feel discouraged, Why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely And long for Heav' n and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He cares for me.

The chorus follows with "I sing because I'm happy, I sing because I'm free, For His eye is on the sparrow, And I know He watches me."

 
Lovely words that remind us that a loving Heavenly Father is not only watching over the Sparrow but He watches over us.

An Old Hymn

"Great Is Thy Faithfulness" is an old hymn that has been running through my mind these past few days.

The words really speak to my heart.  Hope they speak to yours too.




"Great is Thy faithfulness," O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;



Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;  As Thou has been Thou forever wilt be.












Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above, Join with all nature in manifold witness, To thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.










Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;  Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

"Heavenly Sunlight"

An old hymn "Heavenly Sunlight" came to mind yesterday as we walked outdoors.      

The chorus begins with " Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight, Flooding my soul with glory divine."




My soul certainly needed flooded with some of that glorious sunshine.














I think these two were in need of it too.











Ever notice that when the sun is shining life takes on a different perspective. It makes us look up and rejoice.   I know I did.    Hope you will too.

Favorite Hymn

 A favorite hymn of mine is "It is Well with My Soul".   The words were penned by a man who lost his four children at sea.   At the very spot where their ship wrecked, he wrote these following words.













When peace like a river attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
