This week-end found me enjoying the pleasures that warm weather brings.
The yellow finches are frequent visitors at the feeders. They are stunning to see. I love having my morning coffee while these fine feathered friends munch their breakfast.
It is delightful to have time to relax and just watch them as they go about their daily business.
Speaking of relaxing...
Hubby and I took the motorcycle for a lovely ride this afternoon. We stopped at the Old Stagecoach Inn. It was established in 1822. Once it was a resting place for weary travelers. Now it serves good food. On some week-ends they have entertainment in the evening. Local musicians gather and play old favorites. They have a walk-up window that is open in the summer. Cold drinks and ice cream are available.
Today we opted for ice cream! There are tables along the street where one can sit and watch the local traffic go by. A great place to stop and take a few minutes to savor the past.
Bird watching, motorcycle ride, beautiful weather, and ice cream...
life doesn't get much better than this!
Thank you for letting me share my week-end pleasures...hope you had some too!
I love watching the birds in our yard, today a mother robin was taking mud from our pond, I couldn't see where her nest was though. We also have a bird house with wrens that the mother scolds me each time I go into the back yard!
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the yellow finches. I was recently given a beautiful finch nest but do not know what type of finch it was.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed a trip on the bike. The two red flowers add the perfect touch to the ice cream stop photo.

What a nice weekend you had dear friend!
ReplyDeleteThe finches are wonderful, lovely painting and I have enjoyed seeing your garden journal too. Your garden is beautiful, the May garden flowers look stunning and obviously so well tended. No wonder the birds come , they must love it and that in turn gives you pleasure too, sitting watching them.
ReplyDeleteViolets in the woods here, when I was in the brownies we took little bunches of primrose and violets to give as gifts to the old ladies in hospital. A little gesture, I remember their faces and grateful thank you as it so cheered them up. I think about it each year. Loved seeing your violet paintings.
Evening Debbie, Sounds like me and hubbys kind of day! Even though we don't have a motorcycle (he wants one), we love taking drives some weekends a few hours away from our home!! We will have to look up that Stage Coach Inn...I'm assuming it is north of us. Your picture of the finches are beautiful....have you ever painted a wren? I'm getting ready to look one of these birdies up.....this has to do with my newest post!! Blessings~~~have a wonderful weekend ahead~~~Roxie
