With the arrival of snow this past week-end I decided to decorate for Christmas. I love lights at this time of the year. They bring cheer and warmth to the shorter days.
When I get out the decorations for the tree memories come flooding back. There are so many precious ornaments that I have received over the years.
This one was made by a friend that grows beautiful gourds and makes them into lovely decorative works of art.
Another fellow artisan carved this one out of bass wood and gave it to me several years ago.
A sweet gal from church tatted this snowflake.
There are many more...some are old and worn but they have a special place on my tree each year. They are cherished mementos that are priceless to me. As I hang them on the branches I hear voices and laughter that echo from the past. Once again Christmas has returned to my heart.
Thanks for letting me share some of my treasures with you. Have a wonderful evening. God bless!
So lovely, Debbie. Thank you for sharing your treasures. I truly enjoyed seeing them. Now...wanna come over and put up my tree??? LOL Still haven't managed it yet and I usually like it up at Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteBeuatiful! I love the lights too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tree
ReplyDeleteOne year I scoured yard sales, flea markets, shops and rummage sales for vintage ornaments for a vintage theme tree. I then gave them away with as part of gifts and on the packages.
Oh what a beautiful tree-and house! I kinda got nostalgic seeing your Victorian looking curtains-I guess my house is not sweet like that.....I just love your decorations and your cherished memories.
ReplyDeleteLove, Debra
So pretty, I love your cherished ornaments from friends. It's such a nostalgic time of year, I love it.
ReplyDeleteYour post really hit home with me. You have some lovely, artistic ornaments. When I start to decorate my tree each ornament brings back memories of places I've been, a gift from a friend or family member, or a treasure from my past. I even have all the old glass ornaments we hung on the tree as kids (those that have survived). Decorating the tree is like a trip down memory lane.
ReplyDeletetreasured memories like yours are what make a Christmas tree a real Christmas tree. Christmas is also in my heart. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's strange, or maybe it's not, but we decorate our tree in the same way, with ornaments that mean something and have countless memories attached to them. Your tree is lovely and i envy your snow :)
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful photos! Love your special decorations! Not sure if we will put up a full tree because of our big kitten Guy, he's a climber!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie. Your tree is fabulous. I like fairy lights too. They make a house look so inviting this time of year. Your tree trinkets are wonderful especially with all the memories attached. I need to get a move on to catch up to you and your gorgeous tree. :-) Take care.
ReplyDeleteYour tree is very elegant and yet personal, with all the memories hanging from the branches. I love pulling out my boxes of ornaments, reminding me of my children's first Christmas, my move to another home, or a friends sweet gift. It is so much more than a tree.
ReplyDeleteI love a really personal tree like this - my tree is full of things the children have made, things we've chosen together, gifts I've been given - so nothing matches like some of these trees people have that are perfectly colour coordinated but I love it! I'm getting mine decorated this weekend hopefully
ReplyDeleteYes decorating the tree all those wonderful memories come flooding back. Your tree is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see your Christmas tree holding all the memories of old , of love and laughter...mine is exactly the same ! xx
