Gentle Transition

A gentle transition is occurring as July slides into August.  It is hard to fathom how quickly time goes by.

Was it not just yesterday that these

zinnias were but seeds in the ground??

Glad to see that a few late blooming orange day lilies are blooming.  Due to the dry summer they were not as prolific.

The apples from the old orchard on our property are beginning to ripen...nothing special in appearance but the apple sauce is fabulous!

At last the tomatoes are showing orange...think I will be picking some soon.

Our friend and neighbor just finished mowing his second cutting of hay.

All these wonderful gifts make July sliding into August a gentle transition.

Hope you will share what transitions you are seeing in your part of the world.

In the meantime have a wonderful end to July and a great start to August.  Be sure to enjoy, because we all know how time flies!!

Hugs

Debbie

  1. It's so nice to see some of the happenings in your neighborhood, Debbie. Yes, time goes by quickly, and I can't believe it's August already. I am waiting patiently for Fall, my favorite season. ; ) Your tomatoes are BIG, and it will be so nice to use them for different things. Sometimes just biting into a ripe garden tomato and adding salt is the best there is. Oh, and your apples from the apple orchard - how wonderful that is. You will be able to make lots of goodies with them. Your area is beautiful, and I love it when you show it to us in your posts.

    Happy August days, Debbie.

  2. Apples! Already!? I feel faint. lol
    Beautiful pictures and words

Transition to August is met with the grumpy attitude I've been developing during the excess rain in July. I have hope August will bring smiles.

  3. Time is flying by. Hopefully the hot, humid days will be behind us and the weather will be a little nicer. Hope you didn't get affected by the storms that came through recently. Enjoy the gentle transitions and save a big, juicy tomato for me. Have a great week!

  4. Jealous of your fresh tomatoes--I didn't try to grow any this year. My herbs are hanging in there, so at least there's that. Central Florida's transition from July to August is from hot to hotter usually, with a side of hurricane formation. But it also means we're one step closer to what passes for fall here, and an eventual lessening of heat and humidity. Very grateful this time of year for air conditioning!

  6. July does seem to have sped by. I think because the heat kept me in the house so much, one day ran into the next! Plus we had grandchildren one week and another set for 3 days. I looking forward to a slower August hopefully.

  7. Beautiful photos. The apples remind me of Silver City, New Mexico, and finding this type apple on the golf course. Looked forward to a snack every time.

  9. How did August arrive so quickly? I see you grow zinnias and roses too, each blossom is so pretty and reminds me to thank our Heavenly Father for creating us and such beauty.

  10. It really is hard to believe how fast the days go by. Seems like we were just waiting for spring. Your pictures are so pretty. The apples remind me so much of mama. The apple off the trees at my aunt's house many many years ago looked just like yours. Mama loved to pull one off the tree and eat it...with a little sale sprinkled on it, of course.
