Our sweet Shelby has been diagnosed with kidney failure. She has been losing weight and not her usual perky self.
Our vet thought she might be diabetic and did blood work.
Unfortunately it is her kidneys and there is nothing that can be done.
This is quite common in aging German Shepherds.
God brought Shelby to us in the winter of 2013. You can read about her arrival under the archive Feb. 20 of that year.
How long she will be here is not known. For now she takes daily walks, sleeps with us and barks at Schindler when he gets too close to her food.
Every day we have her companionship is a gift.
Thank you friends for allowing me to share what is on my heart today.
God Bless
Debbie

Debbie, I am so sorry to hear this. If caught soon enough they can stop its progression with the right diet and plenty of water. I hope this is the case for your sweet Shelby. ❤️
ReplyDeleteDebbie, my heart and love go out to you and your family-our fur family members are so special.
ReplyDeleteOh, Debbie, I'm so sorry to hear about Shelby. Pets come into our lives and nestle there like a special family member, trusting us, being loyal, and providing that love and support that we need. I hope you enjoy this time with her and that it gives you more special memories. Have a good week, my friend!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Shelby has kidney problems, Debbie. I hope she will be around with you for a long time. You've had many years of love with this loyal companion. I know this must be a difficult time for you right now. Thinking of you and sending thoughts of comfort and love. I was thinking of naming one of my kids Shelby. ; )

Oh Debbie, this has made me cry. I am so very sorry. I will sure be thinking about you and your family and sweet Shelby. She is a beautiful dog. This is just so hard to face.
ReplyDeleteI felt sad over your Shelby. I perhaps knew how you are feeling because almost two years ago I lost our dog Orly. I cried when he died. He was my companion during the Covid lockdown. I still have to get over it. Anyway, I hope you still have more time to enjoy Shelby's company. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteMy heart is with you, Debbie. I am so very sorry to hear this about Shelby. I know you will treasure each day you have left with her. The only thing that cannot be taken away is your loving memories of her.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Penny
