Like this moth I am drawn to light.

Isn't it interesting in the account of creation light was the first thing God created.

"and God said "Let there be light.  God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness."  Gen.1:3 (NIV)

Many artists have commented that it is the light they desire to capture.

Light helps one to see clearly...

provides a healthy sense of well being...

and makes all living things flourish.

In the spiritual realm light is associated with goodness.

"You are the light of the world.   A city on a hill cannot be hidden.   Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on a stand and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven."   Matt. 5:14-16 (NIV)

May all of you enjoy the lovely gift of light this week.

God Bless

  1. Beautifully expressed, Debbie, in writing, with photo, and delicate watercolor. There seems to be a lot of darkness in this world, but remembering the light that has been given is very important and sharing it and the hope...Thank you, Rita

  2. Light! Favorite is sun shining down through storm clouds.

  3. Yes, and soon we will be creating our own light more often.

  4. AMEN! Let there be light ... for sure! And now with fall, that light changes and it's so good to observe ...

  5. A beautiful post and beautiful painting!

  6. Beautiful words, Debbie. Somehow you always capture indelible words and sights in your posts. You are like the little voice in my head that says, "Stop! Take another look at this."

  7. Beautiful post, Debbie! Love the painting!

  8. Lovely words to go along with your enchanting photos. Light is so important in our lives. I hope it shines through for all of us this week. Thank you.

  9. Especially relevant during these times, Debbie!
And your artwork and photographs are just lovely, my friend!
    Great post.

  10. I know that light can make or break a photo. Yet I am drawn to times like sunset and sunrise rather than full-blown daylight.

  11. An unusual subject but so beautifully painted , and you definitely caught the light !

  12. A lovely and meaningful post. Yes, I am an artist who paints the light and have always loved the Matthew passage. It struck into my heart when I was young.
Have a blessed week, my friend.

  13. Your photo is so nice. Let's walk in the Light.
