Cardinals

The cardinals are frequent visitors since the weather has turned colder.  They love cracked corn.
I have so many favorite birds but the flash of  red on the wing always catches my attention.  The female is not as striking but she has her own special beauty as well.   Often times they come to feed in pairs.
Since they are Ohio's state bird they are quite common here all year round.

I finally finished the above painting this week.  Wish I could say the same for my shopping.

This Santa may not be coming down anyone's chimney unless she gets busy soon.
Hope you all have a blessed week.

  1. Cardinals are quite common in my area as well. I frequently have them visiting my yard. I will remember to have some cracked corn for them. Have a wonderful week. Bonnie

  7. Hi Debbie, your painting of the cardinal is so beautiful! We aren't lucky enough to have cardinals out here in California but I wish we did: I think they're one of the prettiest birds of all.

    Blessings,

    Victoria

  8. Hi Debbie. Thanks for dropping by and leaving your lovely message. I'm taking a bit of a back seat where blogging is concerned to reconnect with family over the Christmas period. So you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and I will see you in 2013. Just love your cardinal btw. Take care. xx

  10. There is nothing prettier than a red cardinal in snow flocked ever green tree. I have only seen a in my new area...but where I lived prior to our move they were every where...I wish I could paint/draw birds. I believe you capture their true nature when you paint them.

  11. Evening Debbie! Your Cardinal painting is so pretty....You are a very talented artist! The older I get I so enjoy the birds....I sit on my front porch and see so many different types...more than in past years. Maybe that's part of growing older, we seem to slow down a bit and take in what is around us...at least that is what I am doing! (I love it too!) You must take in a lot when you travel on your motorcycle..I can tell you enjoy lifes simple pleasures! Have a blessed week~~~Roxie
