White Christmas

We are dreaming of a White Christmas...

it looks like we may have one just like we used to know...

The tree tops seem to be glistening...

and we are sure sleigh bells were heard in the snow.

Yes it looks like our dream of a White Christmas may come true.

(This will be the last post of 2017)   Wishing each and everyone of you sweet friends a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.   Hope all your dreams come true.

God Bless

Debbie

Super Moon

December certainly brought a lovely gift...  a super moon.   Hubby and I enjoyed an evening walk beneath this beautiful light.  What a great way to start the Christmas season.   May all of you enjoy it too!   Have a "Super" week.

The Last of November

It is the last of November friends.   Most of the leaves have fallen...harvest season is at an end ... deer hunting has begun.

Soon it will be time to prepare for Christmas and a New Year.   Seems like life happens way too fast.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could slow down and make the moments last?

I have just started reading a book "One Month to Live" by Kerry and Chris Shook.

It is based on the thought that if you only had one month to live what meaningful thing would you do each day.   I think it will be a perfect read for this time of the year.  Sometimes we get so caught up in the craziness of the holidays that we lose touch with why we are here and what is of importance.

Tomorrow another birthday will arrive.  It sets one to do some pondering.  While life has many ups and downs it seems vital to hold onto what matters.  In the big scheme of things as brother James penned in the scriptures ..."what is your life?  You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."  James 4:14b   Upon that thought hoping everyone finds time to do what is meaningful this coming week.

Gather Together

Here in America this week many of us will gather together to celebrate Thanksgiving.

There is something special about sharing a meal, conversation and gratefulness with family and friends.

For me personally it is a favorite holiday of the year.   I love all the traditional dishes this season brings...especially pie!!

The laughter shared, stories told and good memories make the day a big part of gratitude which enriches the spirit.

In considering the gathering together I am reminded of an old hymn that is a Netherlands Folk song.  Hope you enjoy.

God Bless and have a wonderful holiday and week.

Joy

Today I found joy in the lingering fall colors...

Baking a pie...

Romping with two friends...

Painting lovely flowers ... (a gift from my Mom)

Reading an inspirational book by Brenda Waggoner...

and reflecting on God's great love.

Perhaps you will share what brought you joy today.

Have a great week!

November Day

There was a lovely hush as the moon began to slip away.

Softly dawn's light began to awaken the hills.

A rosy glow filled the sky.

Yes a lovely November day was on its way!

Hope you have one too.

God Bless!

Encouragement

In this mixed up world where evil seems to persist one often finds themselves searching for encouragement.

This passage in Psalms has helped me...maybe it will you too.

"Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;

for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.

Trust in the Lord and do good;  dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture."  Psalm 37: 1-3 (NIV)

May all of you be encouraged this week.

God Bless!

Where is Autumn?

Many of us in this part of the world have been asking where is autumn?

Our vibrant fall colors are missing.
The temperatures remain unseasonably warm.

Summer flowers are still blooming...

wip

Even I have returned to painting spring subjects.

Today the wind is blowing.   That often signals a change in the weather.  Just maybe it will bring some of autumn's glory.   Hope so!

Take care friends and have a blessed week.

An Unusual Surprise

October brought an unusual surprise...

a sweet violet blooming in autumn's sunshine.

They generally are one of April's gifts.

Upon searching found three more bravely poking their heads above fall's debris.

Just goes to show that each season may delight us with unusual surprises.

Hope you enjoyed seeing a bit of spring in October.

Have a blessed week.

Favorite Psalm

This week a dear friend in an email ask me if I had a favorite Psalm.

I had to ponder this question a bit.
There are 150 chapters to this beloved book.

After careful consideration I chose Psalm 139. It begins with O Lord, you have searched me and you know me.  You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. "

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;  your works are wonderful, I know that full well... all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be...

Search me, O God and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting."  vs. 14 - 16 - 23 & 24. (NIV)

Thank you for letting me share a favorite Psalm with you.   Hope if you have one - you will share too!

Have a wonderful week.

Thoughts from the Hedgerow

The hedgerow is a good place to gather one's thoughts.

Life can be similar in appearance.

There may be much to entangle.

Thorny brambles reach out and cling...they cause pain...

so does stinging nettle.

It is in the act of "looking up" that one becomes free.

Free to see spots of joy in the midst of briers...

beauty to replace the sting...

and abundance to cover the hurt!

Sweet friends do we not all have a "hedgerow"?

I know I do.

May we all find the path that sets us free.

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."  John 8:36 (NIV)

Hugs from the Hedgerow

Beckons

From the hedgerow September beckons.  It displays such lovely colors.

 Shades of auburn...

                   Peachy oranges

                 Soft lavenders

and dark grapes.

Isn't it amazing how September's hedgerow gently calls us into autumn's colorful show?

We hope you enjoyed your time here.   Please come back soon.    So glad  when you do!

P.S. Update -Was happy to hear from my blogging friends in Fla.  They are safe.   Thanks for all of you who took time to "look up" with me.

God Bless!

Sow

It is the time of the year when I begin to sow seeds for the coming season.  Discovered a different method on You Tube...they call it "...
