Love

With the coming of February my thoughts often turn to the subject of love.

Certainly Valentine's Day reminds me of that special someone who makes my heart beat faster and delights me with all he is and all he means to me.

Yes that kind of love is extraordinary.  It is powerful and brings great joy.

Love though is not always found in romantic relationships.  It can be seen lived out by many in acts of kindness.  It shows up when someone takes the time out of their busy day to help an elderly lady wheel her cart of groceries to her car...

allow someone else to go ahead of them when waiting in a long line at the cash register...

cook a meal for a family who may be grieving...

write a note to someone who may need an encouraging word or send a quick text to let them know they are in your thoughts.

There are so many ways to give and receive love that no one need miss this great gift that we are privileged to share.

We were all created to love and be loved.  May everyone this coming week experience this blessing.

Love

  1. Debbie, this truly is beautiful. Often, people think of Valentine's Day as a relationship thing, and it is a day of love, in so many ways. Like you said, there are different ways to show love, and I especially liked the one you expressed about the elderly. They really do need to be treated with respect and kindness. Valentine's Day is a favorite of mine.....pink and red hearts, roses, chocolates, and love. What's not to like? I hope you receive love this month of February, Debbie, as I know you send it as well. Those dogs of yours possibly show you the best kind of love, their loyalty. : )

  7. You are so right, Debbie. I think at then end-romantic love is the least of it. There are so many other types of love and giving of oneself without expecting anything in return is the greatest love of all, to me. xo Diana

  8. Debbie, I wanted to answer your question.....no, I don't remember my mom loving sweets that much, and she didn't bake that often (just a candy bar here and there), but she probably thought her kids were sweet, so she wanted to name us that. I was joking when I said she came to her senses and decided to name me Sheri haha. She was actually the best mom, and had better perspective than anyone I know. Thanks for visiting, and that was a fun post. It brought me back to the blogging days back in the day. They would do "join along" posts all the time. I didn't participate much, but this one was fun.

    Happy Valentine's Day, dear friend.
