Hi friends. Happy August to you. Thought this week I'd share three books I am in the process of reading.
As many of you know for me August is my slow down month. I seek a shady spot, a cool drink and something good to read.
Billy Showell's " Botanical Painting in Watercolor" is one that is being revisited. Her botanical paintings are beautiful. She is very generous in sharing her colors and techniques. This book is not only informative but lovely to page through.
The last book being shared is "Shelter in God".
Dr. David Jeremiah wrote this during the pandemic. It is an exploration of several psalms and how David found comfort and shelter in God.
I have always enjoyed the writings of Dr. Jeremiah and this one is no exception. Very appropriate not only for the times we are living in but on a personal level as well. I would highly recommend this one.
Well dear ones I am off to my shady spot. If any of you are reading something worthwhile...hope you will share it. Until next week...God Bless.
Hugs
Debbie
"And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened." Rev. 20:12a
Ah, serenity...
ReplyDeleteSince I retired back in 2003 I have really enjoyed reading-before I always felt guilty taking the time to read when I could be doing something else- but I love the journeys we can go on with our reading. I am going to check out the first one for sure-enjoy your August Kathy
Gros bisous,
Martine
Happy August!! I enjoy reading magazines sometimes more than books only because I love the small articles they have…. Of course my pastel journal is on top of my list … it’s a wonderful reference book that I enjoy!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy this beautiful August day. Hugs
I'm glad you found some wonderful books to read in the hot month of August.
ReplyDeleteI love that little shady spot you have and that charming table and chairs. Yes,
August is a hot month, and I'm wondering what it will be like in the mountains.
I've only been here half a year, so things are still new to me.
I hope the August days are good to you, Debbie. You are such a good person.
Try to stay cool and keep reading. I must get back to it. I have two books
that are waiting for me. ; )

Thanks for sharing these books. They all sound lovely, especially Dandelion Summer. I hope you have a restful week.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to be excellent books. Good reading.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful August
Looks so cosy your shady spot , really invites reading. If I can find 'Dandelion Summer ' here, I will buy it .
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a lot of reading to keep you busy. I hope your shady spot will be comfortable and you will enjoy all three of these. Thanks for the recommendations. Right now I am reading 3 different books on three different devices. lol Sometimes it is hard to keep track. Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a wonderful way to enjoy August . . . a little break from routine, a cold drink, and a variety of good reads! I have never read any of Dr. Jeremiah's books, but my mom is reading one right now and can't stop talking about it!
ReplyDeleteHappy August, I hope it's not as warm as around here, I in August have the travelogue to paint and an interesting book; Aquitaine.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to read it but it is and promises to be good, in fact it was prremio planet in 2020.
Happy Week.
Best regards.
Hello my friend! All of your books are great. I need to go to our library, or order some online through our library system. It's been way too long since I've been in a library. Enjoy your slow down time.
ReplyDeleteAlways good to have a stack of books. I will have to find a copy of the Billy Showell one, it looks interesting. My latest book purchase is 'Natures Palette' by Patrick Baty about ways of classifying colour before the days of things like pantone. In some ways it's like looking at house paint colour charts but with history and illustrations too. I confess I am spending more time looking than reading at the moment.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a shady and peaceful August.
Enjoy your slow down month, and your lovely books. That botanical one looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGood reviews
ReplyDeleteHi, Debbie! Thank you for the book recommendations. Enjoy your shady spot, cool drinks and books.
