Fresh Snow and the Birds

Morning brought us another fresh covering of snow.

This little Sparrow didn't seem to be bothered one bit.    He patiently was waiting his turn to eat.

The backyard restaurant had a stream of patrons all afternoon.  The lines were long.  It was so busy at times I had to keep restocking the buffet.

Mr. Cardinal claimed his place before Ms. Blue Jay arrived.

Later they had quite a discussion over the cracked corn dish.

As the day faded into evening one by one they left.

It was time to go home.  Time to get some rest.

Tomorrow they will be back.   Hope you will too.
Have a wonderful evening.   God Bless!

  5. So happy you feed the birds, Debbie. I do not know how they survive the extremes of cold and heat we get here in the Midwest. Never can decide if I find the cardinal or the blue jay prettier. Both are beautiful though.

  6. Hi Debbie, we got a couple of inches of new snow too. No pretty birds though. I do have to get myself some feeders before next winter. Unfortunately we have an awful lot of squirrels around these parts and they can get pretty pushy after a while. I've had one in particular the started coming to my front door and hanging from the light wanting some bread. I had to stop putting food out because I didn't want a squirrel jumping on my grand children when they came over.

  7. Cardinals are so spectacular aren't they? Keep warm. It looks like winter has a strong grip on your side of the world. Spring isn't far off here. I can feel the change.

  8. A sweet little illustrated story :-) How sad the world would be without the birds . They seem to have chosen a quite generous restaurant :-))

  10. Glad you are providing a buffet. They must be fun to see as they come to the feast. Love the photo of the chair on the deck with all the snow on it.

  11. Hi Debbie, its so much fun to feed the birds, they can go through it so fast and then if there is a squirrel around its gone really fast. I love that so many birds stay around during the winter. Thanks for the beautiful winter photos. :)

  13. Love your photos. We have had a little snow and now it is rain. A very strange winter here. But my birds are ever so happy to see me each morning with their food and treats. Have been busy painting cards but really just want time to paint different ideas floating around my brain.

  15. I love your stunning snowy photos! Such gorgeous birds! The red cardinals are a favourite of mine - even though I've never seen one in real life - there is something Christmassy and magical about them!
