The painting is not finished. It may just be in
the beginning stages or almost complete. It may need more contrast, deeper values, or a few more details. There are times though when I am uncertain what is needed or how to finish. In my eyes there is something missing. It doesn't meet my expectations.
Similarly I also am a work in progress. The difference is that my creator knows exactly what He must do to finish me. He may soften some edges...
wipe out areas that need to be brighter... deepen values to show contrast between dark and light. There may be places where my composition needs to be stronger or unnecessary clutter that leaves no place for the eye to rest. Whatever changes He makes will refine me and bring me to a good finish.
If there is any one of you who like me might be a work in progress take heart..."being confident of this that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." Phil. 1:6 (NIV). Please have a wonderful evening - God Bless!
I love works in progress , the journey , for me, is always as important as the destination .

ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post Debbie thank you for sharing these words with us :) and your day lily painting is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove the painting as it is. Full of promise. I'm proud of you for trying during this trying winter. I was busting open and carrying water around this morning to feed the animals and thought my fingers were frostbitten. I'm afraid my muse has been frozen on the farm but it's too cold to try and go find her. Yet, I am making myself paint as I know in the end, it will turn out.
ReplyDeleteA lovely post and great words. Your flower is really lovely, maybe just some deepening of color will do the trick to make you satisfied :-)) xx
ReplyDeleteYour painting of the day lily is beautiful, so soft and lush! Your analogy is also perfect! Have a wonderful weekend! ~ Diane

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice post, Debbie, thank you! Your painting is already beautiful, and so are you!
ReplyDeleteGood to see that painting taking shape.
ReplyDeleteThe flower looks beautiful Debbie and I enjoyed seeing the pages of your sketchbook too, your pencil work and lovely nature studies. You certainly have a very different world, snow and cold temperatures. A great time to stay in and create. It is a very grey day today, windy and raining, not very spring like at all. So glad I took the time to enjoy yesterday. Glad you enjoyed seeing the snowdrops. It was nice to find your message, thank you.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your weekend, and keep warm.
Debbie, your work is so beautiful, you have a wonderful talent!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the weekend.
XO Mary
