Sweet!

Isn't she so sweet!   These morning doves visit the feeders regularly.

They never seem to mind the cold.  When the wind blows they continue to maintain a peaceful attitude.   They are never pushy and always are willing to eat whatever the other birds discard.

Wouldn't this one make a great subject for a painting?    What do you think?

Hope everyone is staying warm and cozy.   Have a blessed day!

  7. I think you should start right away. I had one as a pet, bought her at a flee market, felt so bad that they were all in this little cage. Thought I would be able to release her but the vet said she was a laughing dove form down south so I couldn't. Turned out she was the most loving pet I have ever had. She would snuggle and coo, laugh, ( they really do laugh) and loved to have her back scratched.

  12. Oh...YES! Please paint her. A subject close to my heart. We have our bird feeder very close to a window and it apparently reflects back because we can stand really close and they never see us inside. Our doves have the most beautiful blue eye liner which appears florescent. Nature is truly amazing.

  25. I love the call of the Mourning Dove! The sound takes me back so many years to when I was growing up on the farm. Even now, hearing them is a bittersweet thing! It is a shame that in some states they are still hunted! Thank you Debbie for your thoughts, I would love to see a painting of one. ~ Diane
