Gentle Transition

I often think that here in our part of the world September brings a gentle transition from summer to fall.

This week the autumn equinox arrives.  Already the days have grown shorter and the evenings cooler.

Misty mornings...

Orange pumpkins...

Golden sunflowers...

all these and so much more lead us gently from summer into fall.

Hope each of you are encountering a gentle transition of one season into the other.

Hugs

Debbie

Taking Time

I've been taking time this week to notice nature's lovely compliments...

Queen Anne's Lace dotting the summer meadow...

how blue the sky appears when sunflowers reach high...

that there is nothing more peaceful than sweet bovine grazing...

acorn caps make great ground decoration...
and fallen leaves means autumn is just around the corner.

So glad you stopped by and took some time to visit.  Hope your final week of August is wonderful.  Will see you in September :)!!

Zoomed

Oh my the month of August has zoomed by.   It was a busy time here.

While I was bird watching the garden grew wild and tangled.  It definitely could use a bit of pruning.

Those peaches that I thought would all be gone because  the resident groundhog was stealing them...well he left me plenty...the last of them ended up in these peach crumb muffins.

The neighbor's generous gift of zucchini made its way into pickles.
Some sketching and plein air painting
was done.
Pastel painting and Watercolor sketch

So much for those "lazy days of summer".  Maybe if I hurry I can find them.

Looks like maybe these two did.

Enjoy what is left of August before it zooms by.   See you in September.

Plein Air Painting

Yesterday morning was perfect for doing something I love - plein air painting.

These sunflowers volunteered to pose for a couple of hours.

The birds provided lovely music...

while a couple of friends stopped to visit.

Before I knew it noon had arrived and the morning had disappeared.   Amazing how fast a few hours can fly when one is doing something they love.

Hope sweet friends you find a perfect morning to enjoy that special thing you love to do.

Hugs

"Singing in the Rain"

This weekend brought us some much needed rain.  To celebrate I am sharing this link to the old song performed by Gene Kelly... "Singing in the Rain"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmCpOKtN8ME

The sunflowers thought they would join in

as well as the Rose of Sharon

and Queen Anne's Lace.

Think I will too!

Hope everyone has a lovely week.

Sounds of August

July's sketch page
Yes the sounds of August are here.   The locust and Katydid have arrived.

They greeted me as July started its last hurrah!

Even the Blue Moon got its welcome from them.

Garden Phlox,

colorful zinnias,

and golden sunflowers seem happy to hear their song.

I know I am.   How about you?

Have a blessed week!

Hugs Debbie

August's Farewell

It is time for August's farewell.   The sunflowers have come to say goodbye.   They are bravely holding onto their sunny disposition.

The cosmos have started to wave.  They will be here when September makes its arrival.

The morning glory vines are clamoring over everything.  They do not want to miss these last moments of August's passing.

The freshly picked tomatoes know this warm month is almost over.   They too will be sad to see it go.

As for me I am trying to record some of this months treasures before they are at their end.

Hope all of you are preparing your farewell and enjoying these last moments of August.
Have a great day.   God Bless!

While Absent

Look what happened while absent.

 July stumbled into August!

Sunflowers and phlox showed up in the garden...

beans were put up for winter...

a  local car show took place...

An old cemetery was discovered.

a bit of tangling went on...

and a few tomatoes started to ripen.

Most importantly I missed You!    So glad to be back.    Have a blessed day.

Setting Earlier

The sun is setting earlier these days.   A month ago we saw dusk arrive at 9:00 and then a few weeks ago it was 8:30 and now it is 8:00.   ...
