A Certain Vibe

August has a certain vibe.  It does not take the turn of the calendar to let one know it has arrived.

For many years it was one of the least favorite months for me.  There was the realization that summer was winding down and the holiday spirit that marked the beginning of the season was disappearing.

Now though, I have come to appreciate August.  I welcome the cicadas and the crickets' songs.  When night comes they remind me that they have been missing up until this time.

The appearance of Queen Anne's Lace,

purple iron weed popping up and

these apples getting ready to drop are all incredible blessings that come during August's visit.

Also all the hard work that was done in the early months is beginning to bear fruit.

Yes friends, each moment we must look for joy because these days follow the last and they too will pass.

So let us celebrate August.  God Bless!

Summer Moments

Here are a few summer moments.

A field freshly mowed.

Mrs. Hummer swooping in for a sweet drink.

Blackberries ripening in the midst of brambles.

 A moth gathering nourishment.

Sweet Anne's Lace dancing in the breeze.

Last but not least this pink day lily blooming during its brief visit.

All of these summer moments make me grateful.

Hope each of you are finding a few wonderful moments as well.

Hugs

Debbie

Standing Strong

Golden Rod is standing strong during summer's heat;

 Queen Anne's Lace too.

Many folks consider these a nuisance - mere  weeds.  I do not.

To my thinking they are beauty growing well in the most adverse conditions.  They inspire me to stand strong and flourish in difficult situations.

Even during drought these two plants continue to bloom.  They refuse to give up spreading cheer.

As I visit so many of you weekly I find this same strength and beauty in each of your posts.  You often share lovely thoughts, talents, and wonderful photos that spread inspiration and encouragement.  In reality we all have our own set of troubles, concerns, and challenges.  Life happens.  How well we all know that truth.  Yet when we take a moment to share something ordinary from our day, we find joy.  That ordinary becomes truly extraordinary.  Thank you dear friends for visiting me and inviting me to visit you.  Let us keep on Standing Strong.  God Bless!

Taking Time

I've been taking time this week to notice nature's lovely compliments...

Queen Anne's Lace dotting the summer meadow...

how blue the sky appears when sunflowers reach high...

that there is nothing more peaceful than sweet bovine grazing...

acorn caps make great ground decoration...
and fallen leaves means autumn is just around the corner.

So glad you stopped by and took some time to visit.  Hope your final week of August is wonderful.  Will see you in September :)!!

"Singing in the Rain"

This weekend brought us some much needed rain.  To celebrate I am sharing this link to the old song performed by Gene Kelly... "Singing in the Rain"...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmCpOKtN8ME

The sunflowers thought they would join in

as well as the Rose of Sharon

and Queen Anne's Lace.

Think I will too!

Hope everyone has a lovely week.

Looks can be...

Looks can be deceiving.   During this summer's drought I took note of what flourished in spite of heat and lack of moisture.

Queen Anne's Lace appears to be delicate.   Her blossoms remind one of fine lace blowing gently in the breeze.   This flowering lady is deceptive.   If anyone has ever tried to remove her from their garden they will find a deep root system that is tenacious.   Not only does she survive during severe weather she seems to thrive.

Some folks call her a weed.   Not me.   She symbolizes a strength borne out of hardship.   Her roots are built on a strong foundation of faith.   They seem to know they must go deep to seek life-giving moisture.    Even in hard times she is able to share with others.

She appears fancy but in reality she is strong and not easily bothered by a season of trouble.   Her head is raised in hope.
She not only gives nourishment to others she enables them to pass it on as well.

Wouldn't it be nice if we all could be like this Queen of the Field?
Have a Blessed Sunday.   Thanks for stopping by!

Setting Earlier

The sun is setting earlier these days.   A month ago we saw dusk arrive at 9:00 and then a few weeks ago it was 8:30 and now it is 8:00.   ...
