A Certain Vibe

August has a certain vibe.  It does not take the turn of the calendar to let one know it has arrived.

For many years it was one of the least favorite months for me.  There was the realization that summer was winding down and the holiday spirit that marked the beginning of the season was disappearing.

Now though, I have come to appreciate August.  I welcome the cicadas and the crickets' songs.  When night comes they remind me that they have been missing up until this time.

The appearance of Queen Anne's Lace,

purple iron weed popping up and

these apples getting ready to drop are all incredible blessings that come during August's visit.

Also all the hard work that was done in the early months is beginning to bear fruit.

Yes friends, each moment we must look for joy because these days follow the last and they too will pass.

So let us celebrate August.  God Bless!

Abundance

The word "abundance" brings to mind this season of the year.  It evokes the feeling of more than enough.

The meaning according to the dictionary, states that it is a large quantity of something.

The Topical Bible addresses it to mean, "to be heavy", "to overflow", or "to plait together", to "augment" and to "multiply".  Clearly within each of these descriptions we find a surplus that can be shared.

So with this in mind I will share a few of the lilies that are in bloom...

apples ripening - soon ready to pick...

another baby bird getting ready to leave the nest.

Last, but not least this cheerful zinnia patch.

As this month of July comes to a close - hoping that all of you are finding abundance in your days.  Would love if you would share them when you stop to visit.

Hugs

Debbie

Gentle Transition

A gentle transition is occurring as July slides into August.  It is hard to fathom how quickly time goes by.

Was it not just yesterday that these

zinnias were but seeds in the ground??

Glad to see that a few late blooming orange day lilies are blooming.  Due to the dry summer they were not as prolific.

The apples from the old orchard on our property are beginning to ripen...nothing special in appearance but the apple sauce is fabulous!

At last the tomatoes are showing orange...think I will be picking some soon.

Our friend and neighbor just finished mowing his second cutting of hay.

All these wonderful gifts make July sliding into August a gentle transition.

Hope you will share what transitions you are seeing in your part of the world.

In the meantime have a wonderful end to July and a great start to August.  Be sure to enjoy, because we all know how time flies!!

feathers and a sprig of larkspur to sketch...

A charming symbol of the past!

Manfull's Orchard and Farm market is a  charming symbol of the past that continues to thrive in the present.  It has been owned by the same family for over 100 years.

Located in the small village of Augusta, Ohio it welcomes locals as well as visitors.   Here neighbors and friends gather to chat and catch up on the latest news.

In autumn the market is a feast for the eyes.  Large pumpkins, gourds, and potted mums line the front of the building.    Inside lovely handmade furniture and crafts are showcased waiting for someone to take them home.

There is a great variety of apples from which to choose.    Yellow delicious is always a favorite.

Melrose will make a great sauce.

In this changing world it is pleasant to know some places withstand the test of time.
So glad I could share the legacy of this special market.
Hope you enjoyed your vist.

Setting Earlier

The sun is setting earlier these days.   A month ago we saw dusk arrive at 9:00 and then a few weeks ago it was 8:30 and now it is 8:00.   ...
