Artful moments

Each day can hold artful moments.
As we all know life happens and time has a way of passing all too quickly.
Sometimes responsibilities and other duties can call us away from finding the hours to create.
It is then that that one may turn to those 15 minute intervals.

Often quarter of an hour segments can be carved out before going to work or retiring for the evening.   No they may not lead to a finished project in one day but over the course of several days you find yourself making progress.

The old saying "slow and steady wins the race" may not be far wrong.
In fact there may be an advantage to this limitation.   It gives one a chance to come back after a break and have a fresh perspective.

Also when you do have those extra hours to spend painting or pursuing an artistic endeavor - there is a deeper appreciation for that gift of time.

Hope each of you can at least find 15 minutes today for some artful moments.

"for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances."   Apostle Paul 's words from Phil. 4:11 (NIV)

Hugs Debbie

  2. Sometimes 15 minutes is all it takes to start a project and slowly but surely, it will take shape. I love the painting of the strawberries and wish I had just the slightest talent when it comes to painting. Maybe one day I'll find the courage to pick up a paint brush and just try.

  3. Beautiful work, Debbie! I try to have an artful moment every day, sometimes longer, sometimes only to prepare everything for the next painting moment.

  8. What a great reminder - thanks, Debbie. As always I find your paintings very sensitive with the emotion they stir in me - lovely harmony and good design. Your zentangles are great. You know just where to place a larger pattern for impact.
Have a blessed and art filled week.

  10. You are so right about the 15 minute segments as useful moments. I agree too that sometimes it is good to take a break between sessions and see your work with fresh eyes. I had fun walking around in the snow today and doing a few tiny sketches. Tomorrow I will venture out onto the streets and back to civilization. lol Have a wonderful evening!

  12. Debbie,

Sometimes just the simplest advice is the best! And you always manage to find a piece of scripture to support the thoughts or feelings. Very wonderful so thank you.
    Have a good week,

  14. Beautiful artwork, and I totally agree with your 15-minute principle. I sometimes use a timer and write for 15 minutes when I'm feeling blocked, and that usually helps. One of my goals this year is to start sketching for a few minutes most days, too.

  15. Hi Debbie
I do so agree - amazing what you can do in ten minutes or so and make the most of every moment. I love your little pieces of artwork and each time I see what you have been up to it inspires me to get out my paint box again - I seem to get so busy doing other things that my artwork gets a little neglected - may be I should make a late resolution to pick up a brush again. We'll see!

  16. I love what you are doing with your 15 minutes interludes. I hope you are able to get some greater swathes of time soon. Your flowering strawberry is absolutely gorgeous!
I Hope you are not also getting that horrendous weather!

  18. Such great advice, Debbie! And, a good reminder that each art session doesn't have to be a full blown production. Baby steps. That's what my mentor used to say. Sometimes baby steps get you there with more learning than a hard, relentless push. Your watercolor is exquisite - so soft and delicate with beautiful colored washes. And, your zentangles are exciting and graphic - perfect for those short time periods in between other activities. Have a great week, my friend!

  27. Since my art room is in decluttering shambles I found myself on the stairs last night sketching, with two pups just watching me. I told them "a girl has to do what a girl has to do!" I wish you could have seen the look on their faces.................... :-)
