Changes

I am starting to see changes.

Where once Queen Ann Lace and milkweed decorated the meadows - goldenrod and wild asters have shoved them aside.      The purple choke cherry is hanging on but it knows it is almost time to go.
The color of russet is beginning to replace some of the green.     You can see it here -

 and there.

It is gradual these changes.   Like a slow waltz the season starts.

The tempo will pick up once a hard frost comes.
The hillsides will quickly add vibrant hues to their wardrobe.   They will let you know that autumn has fully arrived.

In the meantime I will walk the fields and enjoy the subtle changes.

There is still a moment to stop and enjoy the buzzing of the bumble bee...

listen to the song of  the finches as they gather to dine on the remaining  sunflower heads...

and  of course to "look up"!

Hope you enjoyed seeing some of the changes here at Harmony Hills.

Until next time - God Bless!

  1. Goldenrod is always the first thing in autumn that I see around my farm. It is coming soon as the morning are cooling down.

  4. Sometimes I have a hard time always looking up...I wish I was better at it. I get quite defeated feeling at times. Today is one of those days, though I'm not really wallowing in misery either. I so enjoy your posts that help me to find the joy in each day. I am working on it. Sending you hugs as my favorite season of them all begins to make itself known!

  6. Early Autumn is hard for me, summer is trying it's best to keep it's blooms. But I think next week we will have to decide what to do with the remaining hanging baskets. and plant a few winter flowering plants in their place. Such lovely photos Debbie and I've been looking up on my walks.

  16. That is lovely that you live among meadows and fields where you can go walking and enjoy the changes of the seasons! I live in the suburbs and do my walking to a Leslie Sansone video in front of my computer, but I am not complaining :) God has put his beautiful Nature everywhere for observant eyes to see! and when i "looked up" last week I saw a rainbow! (plus we just got back from a trip up north where we saw so many wonderful things.. both God-made and man-made)

  20. Beautiful photos--the changing of the seasons is so wonderful to see. Even here in Florida, fall is peeking around the corner with some little breezes and the angle of the light. It feels fallish, even though it's still pretty hot and humid.

  22. Hi Debbie
I love the fact that the meadow flowers are changing - I have never seen golden rod growing wild. You are so lucky living where you do and seeing the gradual turning of the season. The trees here are still green and the weather is still warm - unbelievable for the UK. I know the change has to come but I am enjoying this warm spell whilst it lasts. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Don't work too hard!

  24. Change of season is very pretty where you live, I bet it is even prettier shortly when all the Autumn colour is in the leaves. I like the idea of wild Asters they are such a pretty garden flower here in New Zealand.

  25. Debbie, once again I must say it , you are a poet ! I'm reading your post and I can see everything even without looking at your beautiful pictures. Imagine! Nature can't be more beautiful when you can appreciate each and every subtle change, as you do. Thanks for sharing these sweet moments. Hugs

  26. Hi Debbie,
I can see how you are enjoying the gradual changes taking place in your surrounding there. While reading your post, I was thinking if you are a poet. This post was such lovely to read. Anyway, have you also noticed if the change remains the same every year? Nice weekend and God bless.
