Lovely


 In spite of the weather there are certain elements that make this season lovely.  Two days ago we experienced hoarfrost.  It is a special phenomenon that occurs from time to time when ice forms crystals from a foggy atmosphere.


Each branch had a coating of crystalline beauty. 









It only lasts a few hours and by mid morning it is gone.   I have written before about this rare occurrence.

It is a favorite sight of mine.







Speaking of  a favorite sight...our visitor the Rufous-sided Towhee has decided to stop by and visit.  He appears to be alone (I only ever see one - never two at a time).  His markings make him stand out among the crowd.






To make the dark evenings go more quickly...working another jig-saw puzzle...this one is by the artist Terry Redlin...a Christmas present from my brother and sister.  They know what I enjoy doing.







Also been spending a bit of time in the kitchen baking up a few goodies.  There is something special about a warm peanut butter cookie with a cup of coffee to chase away winter's chill.







 Well friends I am wishing all of you a lovely coming week.  Next Saturday is Valentine's Day...hope everyone has a blessed one.

  1. I've never heard of hoarfrost before. It looks so pretty covering the branches of the trees. Your area looks beautiful with all the snow. The peanut butter cookies look really good, and one of my favorite cookies. Yes, with a cup of coffee. Puzzles are nice to put together, especially in the winter when it's so cold outside and we gather inside. The verse you shared is one of my favorite ones, Debbie. And you had me at your title.....lovely is such a special word. Happy Valentine's Day to a dear blog friend. : )

  3. I don't ever think I've had the privilege of witnessing hoarfrost until your photos here today, Debbie. It is astounding! We never know how God will surprise and inspire us by His unique insertion of beauty when we least expect it.
    Oh, and I made some oatmeal-raisin cookies ahead of the bad weather. Your peanut butter ones look scrumptious!

  9. I love that bible verse - it is very beautiful, isn't it? And the ice on the branches - I have seen it in person - absolutely gorgeous.
    Maybe that pretty bird is getting food for his wife and chicks. lol

  12. Your post made me smile; hoarfrost really does look like magic for a few hours! How long did it take you to spot the Rufous-sided Towhee this time? Also, I’m curious, do you have a favorite puzzle piece strategy, or do you just let it flow? I hope you have a cozy and happy weekend filled with warm cookies and coffee.

Weary
