I know many of you select a particular word to focus on each year. My word for 2026 is Trust.
In 2025 I chose Joy. For some reason I missed sharing it with you last January. For sure it was embedded in the pockets of ordinary days. The smiles and hugs of loved ones...notes from friends...the first sounds of spring...glorious sunsets...autumn colors...crisp cool mornings...and the list goes on. The longer I live the more I become convinced that what we seek we find.
To me joy is so much more than happiness...it is richer and not based on our circumstances. It goes deeper and sits like a peaceful dove in our spirit. We have countless opportunities to choose it and then pass it on to others.
So as January begins...I am seeking to trust. How about each of you? Do you have a special word for the year. Hope you will share.
Have a Blessed Week
Debbie
"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 (NIV)
Dear Debbie, that is a lovely cover on the book! I love Joyce Meyer's quotes and sometimes share them on my blog. Let's see....do I have a special word for the year. Kindness.
ReplyDeleteTrust is such an apt word for the year, Debbie. With all that's going on in this crazy world, we must trust in God who is ultimately in control! My word for the year is "light." May we all shine the light of Jesus in this dark and hurting world in which we live.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
That cover on the book is so pretty - I have been reading Joyce Meyer's for years.
ReplyDeleteI like your word trust. I also agree with Martha, with all that is going on every single day - it is imperative to trust God.
I can't get my word to a single word - mine is - Letting go.
Love, sandie
Trust is a good one. I've never done the word of the year but I know several bloggers who do
ReplyDeleteLove your word...mine is Believe.

A number of years ago, I started to keep a gratitude journal. Every evening I wrote down what I was grateful for that day. After a few weeks, I didn’t need to write the list down any more. I noticed I was living more consciously, noticing everything around me in a new way. Enlightenment comes to mind as a description. It made life joyful which is different from happy as you said. I am a happy person though because I found joy in my life for which I am truly grateful.
ReplyDeleteHeartfelt and highly inspirational words dear Debbie 🥹👍♥️
ReplyDeleteI am lucky I didn’t miss reading them 🙏
I loved and could relate with each word you wrote here 🥰
My word has been “ Faith “ since I got my consciousness!🥹
I have got nothing else.
Thanks for such a touching and thoughtful post♥️
Blessings to you and yours 🙏
Thank you for these beautiful thoughts, Debbie.
ReplyDeleteI really love how you describe joy — not loud or dependent on circumstances, but something quiet and deep that stays with us.
Trust feels like a very meaningful word to step into a new year with.
Your words invite reflection, and I appreciate that.
Wishing you a gentle and blessed week.
Your thoughts about joy were a joy to read. Thank you for sharing them. Trust is a great word for this year. With what is going on in our country and the world it is hard to face the day sometimes, but we go forward with trust that something better is ahead. Your posts are always inspiring!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I don't choose a word for the new year, but if I did, this word would be high on the list. You have chosen a wonderful word.....TRUST. I don't have a lot of trust in people of the world, but I do trust in the Lord with my whole heart. I like the title of your book. Have a blessed January week, Debbie.
ReplyDeleteJoy is a wonderful word and a beautiful thing. And trust is another great one. Being in the process of medical things and tests someone recently reminded me of 'trust'. So trust is my word as well.
ReplyDeleteThe more I focus on joy, the more joy I find in the world.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your assessment of joy vs. happiness--it's fun to notice all the different permutations of positive feelings. Great choice of a word for 2026. I chose two words--mend and tend. Looking forward to seeing how these words manifest in our lives!
