Here in the USA, this weekend marks a time of remembrance. We celebrate this special holiday with cookouts...parades...and cemetery visits. It is known by some as Decoration Day and others Memorial Day.
For myself it is time to remember all the men and women who have served this country. May their service and sacrifice never be forgotten.
Also I visit the graves of my beloved parents, grandparents as well as my husband's family. I know they are not there but it seems appropriate to leave some flowers and pay tribute to what their lives meant to those who knew and loved them
Remembering can be sad but it also has a hidden blessing. It reminds us to slow down and appreciate the people who still remain with us.
God Bless
Debbie
"And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me." Luke 22:19 (NIV)
Such a beautiful and inspiring post, dear friend. Your photos are gorgeous and your positive outlook is refreshing and lovely.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet of you to remember your parents there. That is so sweet. Your yard is so green and so beautiful! Do you swing on your swing there with your hubby? Your flowers are so pretty. You are right about fallen soldiers - may their service and sacrifice never be forgotten. We have been so blessed here in America. And may we remember Jesus Christ always!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. I do the same going to the cemetery to visit with my dad. Whenever I'm just driving by I always wave and say hello to him as well.
ReplyDeleteAmen. What a sweet post. When I lived in PA it was a time to visit all the graves of family that had passed before me. May God bless all the family of those left behind by the loss of the service men and women who answered the call for freedom for all of us. xo Diana

ReplyDeleteA fitting memorial.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post. Thanks Debbie, well said.
ReplyDeleteWe had our remembrance days already. And it's harder this year because of the world of today.
ReplyDeleteAppreciating what we have due to the sacrifices of so many, is good to remember!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and sentiments. I went to the Memorial Day event in my town. It was nice to feel the small town vibes and see families and individual honoring those that gave their lives for our freedom. I did a few sketches that will get posted soon. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteA lovely post! Thank you for your card. We visited all the family graves too and left flowers. It was quite a drive since there are lots of cemeteries our loved ones are in. Happy Summer coming up! We have been cold and rainy but I still managed to get the gardening done. Love to you
ReplyDeleteA lovely way to celebrate Memorial Day. We are lucky to have people we've loved, even though they're gone now.
