Precious Days

May is filled with precious days.  Generally the weather at Harmony Hills is lovely...not too hot and not too cold.

As you can see in the above photo the Baltimore Orioles have arrived.  They are here from May to the end of July.  I am kept busy with slicing oranges and filling up bowls of jelly.  They are gorgeous birds.  Naturally the male's coloring is more flamboyant than the female but both catch your eye when they visit.

Pink Bleeding Heart are in bloom.  Their heart shape forms make me want to pick up a paint brush.

This yellow daylily is the first to make a show.  Its petals last only a day.  Perhaps that is why it is so precious.

Woodland Hyacinths may be small but they do not go unnoticed.  They enjoy a patch in the shade which brightens the garden.

The wallflowers are adding color to the veggie patch.  Soon they will keep company with the beets and lettuce that were just planted.

Last but not least  the blackberries are in blossom.  Hopefully they will bear lots of delicious fruit.

Yes, May is full of many precious moments.  Hope you are enjoying this special month.

Hugs

Debbie

  10. It's wonderful that the beautiful Baltimore oriole has arrived at your place. The birds, with their singing and industriousness, are a gift, especially now.
You're making orange jelly - I'm making rhubarb jam :-)))
The flowers in the garden are beautiful... by the way, I bought paint and brushes and will see when I get started... just for the fun of the colors.
Best wishes to you and thank you for your photos.

  12. So beautiful, I love watching everything growing at the moment - it is happening so fast. The photos of your garden and veggy patch are always a joyous treat for our eyes as well as your tummy ;o) On a path I have walked for years I have recently noticed a strong smell of black currents, it is intoxicating. I cannot find the bush although I know it must be there. It is probably buried in the brambles. I'm looking forward to the foraging. Best wishes for a wonderful week.

  13. Isn't it funny how sometimes the male birds are more striking than the females? An example is the Red Cardinal and the California Quail. Your blooms are coming alive saying "Spring is here." I am enjoying it, as the summer heat will be here all too soon. A lovely picture of the Oriole. And how wonderful to have a bush of blackberries at your home.

Have a pleasant rest of the week and weekend, Debbie.

Abundance

We have had an abundance of rain in the last couple of days.  To say we are very soggy is an understatement. Chippy Chipmunk is not bothered...
