Today was

the last official day of summer.   Beautiful skies and warm temperatures made it a memorable one.

As you can see the fields are still so green.

(Both of these photos are compliments of hubby.)
In fact the entire weekend here has been gorgeous.    The perfect weather to tackle out door projects.

This mailbox  had been rescued from the trash several months ago.   A genuine Sears and Roebuck mail receptacle just waiting for a face lift.    My better half sprayed it black and colored the flag red.  I then painted some imaginary flowers.

A porcelain bird placed in a found nest by "my dear one" finished this creative endeavor.

A wonderful ending to summer's passage.

Hope all of you enjoyed it as well.   Have a great week.
P.S.  I just found out my email was hacked yesterday.   Think the problem has been resolved but don't open anything strange that may have come from my email.   Micro-soft security has caught it - so hopefully that is the end of the matter.  Thank you to all those that alerted me of this concern!    God Bless.

  1. Debbie, your photos are wonderful, and you did an amazing job at painting the flowers on that mailbox!!! I am so sorry your e-mail was hacked! I wish these people would find more constructive things to do with their lives. Sending you a warm hug and much love.

  2. Hi Debbie
The changeover from summer to autumn was a beautiful one here too - spending all day out in the garden, I certainly slept well last night. Everywhere is still green but slowly the leaves are changing colour.

Love your newly painted mailbox I am sure the postman will enjoy delivering your letters and seeing your beautiful creation.

Hope you have a lovely week doing things that make you happy.

  3. I suspect mine was too...I have had a few emails that were weird from other bloggers. Fortunately, I can preview them and not open them. I never click on the links because the syntax doesn't sound like my friends' writing. I just changed my email password again too. Love your weekend projects. That mailbox is awesome!!!

  5. What a beautiful day, and I love what you did with the mailbox. I had a really lovely weekend myself--I rode my horse on Saturday and worked with my husband to prepare our fall garden bed on Sunday. I will be planting peas, carrots, lettuce and spinach today. It was still quite humid and hot, but not as bad as it has been, and you can tell that fall is coming. It can't get here fast enough for me!

  6. Great photos
The last day of summer was a perfect summer day, and great for hanging out the laundry. Prayers for a spectacular autumn. The foliage at this elevation are beginning to turn. I'm guessing north and higher elevations are on their way.

  7. I love the mailbox idea. I have my email set up show that it not only shows who it is from but it also shows a summary like the first 10 words of the email, so I know right away if it is spam. Some of the messages they try to get through are ridiculous. I know the real person would never say that sort of thing. :) I will be posting my Around the World post soon. Unfortunately no one that I asked will be able to post, so it ends with me on this end. Sorry about that. I have had some wonderful visits from people who know you. Thanks for asking me to join. Have a great week.

  9. What a marvelous start to fall. The clouds are beautiful and then I hit the oh and ah stage with the mailbox. Good job TEAM NOLAN!
The nest looks like it was a robins with the mud interior. I love that hubby placed a bird in it - I am presuming he is your "dear one")
(I am getting the picture that he is as nature/beauty sensitive as you are.
A beautiful post - thanks Debbie

  10. Hello dear Debbie
Enjoy those warm summer days - lovely to have the lovely photos to look back on in the depths of winter - a reminder that seasons do change.... eventually!!
Your mail box is a work of art - literally! What a creative talent you are!
The little birdie completes the picture and makes it home!
I just don't understand the minds of hackers and spammers, they are sad sad people.

    EnJOY your week dear Debbie.
    Hugs
    Shane

  13. love your hand painted mailbox. We dont have decorated ones here. I was thrilled a year or so back to have someone from the US ask to use my Wisteria to decorate his Mothers mailbox as a gift. Wish we had these type of boxed here so they could be unique... maybe I should start a trend

  17. What a delightful ode to summer! It's still very much summer here and acting more like June than September. I'll be happy to see the turn of the leaves and the cooler air. Love your remake of the mailbox and your sweet nest!

  18. Lovely things to share, as always :) Sorry about the email hack - I got one, too, but saw that it was from a strange email (although it had your name), not the email you send, so just marked it as spam. I wish these people would put their brains to good use instead of harrassing everyday people. Have a wonderful fall - we have cooler temps and sunny skies. Hope the leaves are gorgeous this year.
