Pumpkin Bars with Cream Cheese Icing is a wonderful fall dessert. If you enjoy the taste of pumpkin these are just fabulous. Very moist and flavorful.
If you would like the recipe you can find it here.
I used almonds on top instead of pecans. They were just what I had on hand.

Another comforting dish is the classic green beans with ham. I like to put them in the crock pot over night and let them simmer on low. Makes a great lunch the next day with some sliced tomatoes on the side.
Such an easy meal! Means too the cook gets a break and can go play in the studio for a bit.
This is what I am doing since the days have grown shorter. What about you?
To all my blogging buddies whose days have grown longer (other side of the world) would love to hear what you are doing too!
Take care and God Bless.
Bless you, Debbie, for the wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteI smile to see your crock pot. I had a similar style when I lived in Ohio. Those days were fun times trying out recipes like brown bread in a coffee can. Time to buy another. Baking is the perfect thing to do this time of year.
Mornin' Debbie, your cake looks and sounds so yummy. What a lovely watercolor scene too. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, those pumpkin bars look yummy!

I've had those pumpkin bars and they freeze wonderfully. I try not to bake anymore as I can't resist sweets and have just one. It was dark by 7:45 last night. Oh those long winter nights. I'm trying to put on a good face, since I dread winter, but it's coming no matter what. I usually make soup when it gets cold, though we haven't had that happen yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to cling on to daylight as long as I can. Here in France we are, or were until last evening enjoying some nice evening BBq.s. Terrific thunder storm put stop to that. Not into winter style meals yet, but love the sound of your beans & ham hotpot. Please show us more of your lovely paintings.
ReplyDeleteYou've been a busy bee! Not looking forward to the dark nights. The pumpkin sounds scrummy.
ReplyDeleteThe days here have grown shorter but they are not any cooler :( Crock pots are great little things. I just wish I would remember to use mine.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, you have been busy, and I love what you have been doing! the cooking, baking and your painting is absolutely gorgeous! I love the Autumn! I love the root vegetables and the great prices they are at this time of year. I love the changing leaves, the brisk winds, the smell of the air...I love to come in after being outside and sip a nice hot chocolate.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing more of your posts and art, as I just love your blog. God bless you. Hugs.
I love anything pumpkin, it is funny because I find myself baking in the evenings too. I couldn't do it in the summer, we would sit outside when the days were longer. Beautiful landscape, the blues are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis looks real yummy, Debbie. I bake something similar to this but the addition of those almonds must make it real special. I like to bake in the evenings too, an old habit from my working days .Love your waterpainting with cool colors. Take care, xx
ReplyDeleteOh MY! makes me hungry and cosy all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWe have soup all summer long. I have never tried green beans and ham. usually split pea. Is it the same concept? The ham provided the base flavour?
I am not looking forward to the dark nights. My life changes when that happens. I do not see well in the dark. Driving is limited to only where I know very well.
hanging on to enjoying this as long as I can.
Evening Debbie, Yes, Autumn is in the air with these shorter days! It's a wonderful thing for me to see all you BAKERS out there whipping up some DELISH goodies!! I have promised myself to bake MORE for my precious Hubby in this cottage....I can bake and cook (some) but have been out of sinc....YOU SO INSPIRE ME! (or make me feel guilty??...lol!) Anyway....everything looks awesome.....hope these Autumn days are full of Blessed pleasures~~~Roxie
ReplyDeleteHello dear Debbie
ReplyDeleteOh I love the sound of both these recipes and I will try the crockpot one over the weekend!
Painful as it is I'm trying to be good for the next few months and cut down on sugar!
Our longer days are lovely however the weather has not been the best with cooler days and rain showers..... However I spent time at the garden centre today buying a few plants, one being sweet peas!!!
Wishing you a happy weekend - have fun.
Hugs
Shane
Sorry Debbie - I meant to say I love your new painting. Fences and barns are favourites of mine for photography.
ReplyDeleteBarns are hard to find in the city though, but when I'm in France they're everywhere!

We are heading into our longer days Debbie and so looking forward to some sunshine. Your cooking makes me think I should spare some of my painting time and get some cooking done but then again..... maybe not!
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkin bars look delicious but also very fattening - and seeing as I am trying to lose weight after my holiday indulgences I guess I will just have to make do with looking at your picture with a sigh. I am frantically working in the garden just now - so much needing doing and so little time to get it all done. Where do the days go.
ReplyDeleteOHHHH YUMMMMM!!! What time is coffee, Deb? Great photos as always and love your artwork. These are magical days, aren't they!
ReplyDeleteI checked the pumpkin bar recipe and saved it ...will definitely try it , like you I like to bake cakes and bread when the weather gets cooler . Your watercolor is lovely and with a great mood to it, nice and warm colors ! Wish you a fine weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm holding my breath until cooler weather shows up! I'm ready for fall, though I may not see it until November. Those pumpkin bars look wonderful. I love all the pumpkin stuff that appears in fall, and indulge whenever I can.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely painting, Debbie-it captures this time of year so well.
ReplyDeleteI also love punkin! I have to go flour-less, but I make stuff for my hubby with flour in it...
I want to come to your house for lunch - and for painting! ha ha You are so creative with everything you do. Have a lovely fall!
ReplyDeleteWonderful painting, Debbie!!! and these food dishes look amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, those pumpkin bars look delicious! I love your watercolor of the fence with the red barn in the background. It looks like the essence of early Autumn.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Victoria
I'll try the pumpkin bars, they look divine! Great photos, Debbie!
ReplyDeleteYour painting looks lovely and autumnal Debbie! How nice to do more baking as the days get cosier to be indoors - the pumpkin bar looks wonderful! I am spending a lot more time in the garden and am enjoying photographing and painting my flowers. I've got walking along the beach more often too and may even be brave enough to go for a swim soon!
ReplyDeleteI seem to be missing posts left and right these days. I am so sorry, Debbie. Love the new blog look (the color is just awesome)! But you are painting and nesting and I love the contentment and joy in your voice.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteCouldn't think of any other way to get hold of you. I think someone may have hacked into your gmail. I had a short and strange note from that address this morning. Hope it's all right.
Kathryn
Oh boy-according to the comment above-something is definitely wrong with our email-yours and mine-but certainly yours-I got a stage email from you too-but didn't open it. Did you get my email that told you about it?
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this post! Cozy foods and then to finish it off with that warm and welcoming painting at the end! Love this! It is like a warm hug! Hugging you back my friend! :)
