Warblers and Such

Last spring we entertained for a short while a little bird that I came to identify as a warbler.   In searching through some of my reference books found there are several types that visit us in Ohio.

They have a lovely song that lets you know they are close by.  Resembles the female finch a bit but smaller and more rotund.  Looking forward to their return.   Hope it won't be long.

Speaking of spring at last the snowdrops are starting to bloom.

The colder temperatures have kept them sleeping a bit longer than normal.

What a welcome sight...a promise that warmer weather will soon be arriving.

In the meantime will stay busy in the studio painting a few of my favorite things.

Would love to hear what you are doing while waiting for spring's arrival.

Hope you have a wonderful end to the week.

Take care and God Bless!

  1. I've read about snowdrops but didn't know what they looked like. How charming! Pushing their brave little heads up through the dead leaves! Love your paintings of the little birds.

  2. What a cute bird and painting. I hope you see your little friends very soon. I enjoy this time of year, it's as if the world is waking up again. The cheerful flowers and warm sunshine tell us we have so much to look forward to, instead of grey days. Have a happy weekend whatever you are doing xx

  5. I'm looking for a job and working in the house. Art has fallen by the wayside (because of that and because of being quite down on myself for my lack of ability). The snow has finally all melted from our yard, though there are still some piles at Walmart, I've noticed. No blooms of anything yet here. Maybe soon? Love your paintings, Debbie. Always you have such a soft and beautiful hand.

  6. I love your painting of the bird, so sweet looking, its so much fun seeing and identifying new birds. Glad to see the snowdrops are peeking through, everything is a little late this year. My tulip bulbs are just starting and we do have trees in bloom around here but the temp. is still up and down .I'm So anxious for it to really feel like spring :)

  15. Gorgeous warbler, Debbie. Really like the background. Spring is well underway here and I'm waiting for it to be over, sad to say. I'm am highly allergic to oak pollen, so I sit inside and wait for the pollen to die down—then I can get out and play!

  16. Debbie, You really are wonderful at portraying bird folk. Our weather has been so good for the past 2 days, I was able to dig a few new garden beds and purchase bedding plants as well. Oh Joy, It begins!

  17. In the the studio painting sounds like such a lovely place to be. Today Honey Bee and I took a cart ride to take her mind off the forecast she recently heard tell of .

  18. Lovely sketches of the warbler! It is great that there are some flowers popping up. I home they don't get covered by the snow they are forecasting.

  19. A very pretty painting of your little warbler Debbie! The emerging snow drops look very magical and all the more so because of their promise of spring. We on the other hand are waiting for autumn. We are having very hot days and it is nowhere in sight.
