Springtime can be busy but there is always a few minutes to relax and read.
Some of you may recall my perfect word for the year was trust.
I have been following Dr. Henry Cloud on You Tube and discovered he had written a book on Trust. For any who may suffer with trust issues this is an excellent resource. Dr. Cloud addresses the importance of this essential part of living from a perspective that encompasses not only business but personal situations. It gets five stars in my humble opinion.
Next, another author and artist on You Tube that I follow is Anna Bucciarelli.
This book is full of her beautiful art and is packed with wonderful tips. She covers in great depth so many details to creating a painting as well as all the various techniques that go with watercolor. Having read many books on the subject...hands down "101 Watercolor Secrets" is the best. Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get started painting in watercolor.
Last but not least is "Pieces of the Heart" written by Karen White. She is a favorite author of mine. Have already shared other books of hers in previous posts.
The story takes place in the mountains of North Carolina. A young woman returns to her family's vacation home to find some peace from her stressful job. In Karen White's typical fashion, she draws the reader into the story and makes the characters people you would want to meet. I am only a few chapters in but want to keep turning the page.
Well thank you for letting me share May's reading list. Hope all of you have a lovely end to your week.
Hugs
Debbie
"Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near." Rev. 1:3 (NIV)
I am glad you have taken some time out to read some books. It is a relaxing hobby there. That last one sounds good to me.
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, I am also glad that you have had a chance to read some books. I also like the sound of that last one!
ReplyDeleteAlways good to be able to fit a little reading time in to a day.
ReplyDeleteKaren White does sound like an interesting author, Debbie. I'll have to check her out. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing what other people are reading--these all look good! I'm currently reading The Astral Library (fiction) and The Country Commonplace Book. I think you would especially enjoy the last one as it is a collection of interesting tidbits related to country life, organized by season. It's a delightful book to dip into a few minutes here and there.
ReplyDeleteLike usual your list of recommendations has a bit of everything. I downloaded "Pieces of the Heart" to read on my iPad. Your suggestions are usually very good. Enjoy your week! It is hard to believe we are heading into June already.
ReplyDeleteThat watercolor book looks interesting!
ReplyDeleteSounds like good reads!
ReplyDeleteI'll check out the artist on YouTube! Thanks!
hugs
Donna
It's nice that you found a good assortment of books you can read. I really admire that you read so much. It seems I'm reading less and less these days with my tired eyes. I'll never stop reading scripture though. It is so important. Happy reads, dear Debbie, and Happy June!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, thank you for your lovely blog post. I don’t know Henry Cloud’s book, and I’m not sure whether it is available in Dutch. I do know that Jerry Bridges wrote a book about trust, which I read years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe art book sounds beautiful, especially with all those practical tips. It isn’t my hobby, but if watercolor painting is something you enjoy, it sounds like a perfect book, haha.
I’m curious whether you will finish the Karen White book this month. Sometimes it is so nice to step into someone else’s story for a while.
Wishing you a beautiful rest of the week. And thank you for leaving a comment on my blog a while ago.
Warm greetings from the Netherlands,
Aritha
Dear thoughtful and sensitive Debbie, Lovely reading list! Your option, the watercolour painting books interest me. I will check them! Thank you very much. ((Hugs)), Love, Sadami
