Even the Zinnias are not doing well with the high temperatures and lack of rain.
The summer started off with being extremely wet but has now moved in the opposite direction.
That old saying "It is either a feast or famine" appears to be true with these past two months.
The cone flowers may not be at their best but they refuse not to bloom.
With the heat here and the garden slowing down am finding some time to read. Lauren K Denton is a new author to me. Am really enjoying this novel. Takes place in Alabama. Who doesn't enjoy a good southern novel full of a bit of romance and mystery? Will certainly be checking out a few of her other books.
Best go for now. May all of you have a good week - what ever the weather brings.
Hugs
Debbie
"In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes it circuit to the other, nothing is hidden from its heat." Psalm 19:4b-6 (NIV)
Your artwork is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, I love your artistic talent! Your photos are lovely! Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sandi and Linda - your art was gorgeous - the butterfly was beautiful, and the flowers matched your real flowers. They look like they want to come out well and just can't. I hope you get some much-needed rain soon. We are boiling hot but did get some rain. Love the pups.
ReplyDeleteIt is continuing hot and dry here as well. Love, love your paintings. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a pretty dry summer here. Beautiful artwork
ReplyDeletePlease share more of your lovely art-your paintings are always so beautiful. same here we missed out on the rain the other day-sigh my zinnias and marigold seeds never grew with the extreme heat-sigh Happy new week hugs
ReplyDeleteLovely painting! I'm sure you will catch up, it's hard going when the paint dries too quickly. It's been too hot for doggos here too. Lu won't be getting her long walks for a few days as it is too hot even at 6am. This is the 4th heatwave for us this summer which is most unusual. Best wishes for a cooler week.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos
ReplyDeleteDry here as well with hot temperatures all week.
Hauling water to the flowers is good exercise but I will be pleased to see rain.
Por aquí llevamos un caloroso verano, en especial Agosto es una ola trremenda, las noches insoportables, me gusta ese reto de pinturas, seguro quedará muy bien.
ReplyDeleteFeliz semana.
Saludos Cordiales.
You are quite the accomplished artist, Debbie! The book you mentioned here sounds like one I would enjoy, too. Hope you can get some rain where you are soon. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on that small painting. The pooches found the shade, smart dogs!
ReplyDeleteWe've been lucky here, this past week has been delightful...sunny and in the low 80s. It is supposed to be warmer the next few days, but right now I have no complaints. Thank you for another book recommendation. I added it to my reading list. Enjoy the week, my friend.
ReplyDeleteCone flowers are so decorative, I fully get it that they asked for a painting! And a beautiful painting it is! We are heading into a heatwave, so life slows down the coming week.
ReplyDeleteOh, this heat has to end soon, yes? So wet and cool at the start of the month and now this brown, brittle, hot and sticky time :(. It seems every summer now our grass is brown and crispy from lack of water. I don’t garden but paint my flowers, instead :). Here’s to a break in this weather and some cooler days and nights soon. Take care! - Rhonda Carpenter
ReplyDeleteHey dear Debbie 🥰
ReplyDeleteDespite heat your flowers are blooming gorgeously 👍🥰
I really loved your art ,it’s very beautiful to impressive 👌😍
So true about weather being on extreme side ,though here we still have mild winters but very hot and longer summers ☹️😏
Wishing you much more goodness in coming days my friend 🙏🥰♥️
I hope it gets a little cooler for you there, Debbie. This week has been pretty warm too, but we are supposed to have cooler days in August.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought the cone flowers were interesting. And you did a nice job painting them. That sounds like a good book to read, especially when we tend to stay inside from the heat. I like that special verse you shared too. Happy August days, Debbie.
