If you do you may be around my vintage!
With Valentine's Day having just past it made me start thinking about certain aspects of love.
Why is reds and pinks associated with this word? Why do we often think that love is a noun when it is a verb? Why don't we recognize sooner that love is more than a feeling...it is a way of life?
Genuine love is not always easy...it takes commitment...it can be messy. Is it worth it? I believe so.
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." 1 Cor. 13:4-8. (NIV)
Perhaps nothing much has changed since those words were penned by the apostle Paul. The world needed love then and it still needs it today.
Thank you all for letting me share my thoughts on love. Maybe you will share yours as well.
Love Debbie
"The world needed love then and it still needs it today."
ReplyDeleteAmen to that!
Debbie, your love of music is showing in these last two posts. I don't know why red and pink are associated with love either. Love is definitely a verb and involved active participation on our part! I love those words and every time I hear them they make me think of relationships and how they can so often need to be improved. I hope love is active in your week as well as mine. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThis was a very good post for me because I am having trouble loving someone. 1 Corinthians reminded me where my trouble springs from-ME.
ReplyDeleteYour watercolor is lovely...
Oh my gosh, I was just thinking of that song, Debbie. Thanks for letting me hear it again. The "Love is patient" verse is my daughter, Nel's, favorite.
ReplyDeleteIt's true, what the world needs now is love, sweet love. This is a very nice post this morning to start my week.

Lovely thoughts on love Debbie. I am not sure why red and pink are associated with love but maybe because red is the colour of blood and associated with passion.
ReplyDeleteI think our decade--the 60s--had the BEST music! My Adventures of Poetry the Calico Cat are based on that passage in the Bible. 😍
ReplyDeleteLove for sure!
ReplyDeleteLoved that music flashback Debbie ... beautiful song.
ReplyDeleteYour whole post is beautiful :D) xx
LOVE for sure !!! Beautiful bouquet Deb ... wishing you more love than your heart can hold ..!
ReplyDeleteI remember the song!
ReplyDeleteThe bible verse speaks to me, beautiful and true! Thank you!
Oh, gosh - Jackie DeShannon! What a sweet song.
ReplyDeleteAnd those verses were read at my brother's weeding...
Thanks for the great memories. Debbie!
The world definitely needs more love , and I know the song , but not sung by Jackie De Shannon that I never heard of , but by Dionne Warwick :-))
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful, your post. I love the verse (? Corinthians? I'm not a Bible scholar...), Love is patient, love is kind...It was recited by Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant (I think) in the silly film Did You Hear About the Morgans. When I did storytimes with Toddlers and young chidlren we used to sing a song, "Love is Better When You Give It Away." It was the number one favorite of families over the years. On the serious side, you expressed beautifully some truths about Love. Some say, God is Love. Thank you, Debbie, as always, Rita
ReplyDeleteAhhh, thank you for the link to hear that lovely old song. Seems we need it -- and love -- as much today as ever we did. I remember it being sung by Dionne Warwick too.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a beautiful day!
