A Brief Visit

Indian Summer paid us a brief visit.   It arrived quietly Monday and left late Tuesday.

The time was short but dear.   Abundant sunshine, a clear blue sky, and warm temperatures made this fleeting interlude quite wonderful.

Farmers busily harvested their corn and soybean crops.   Everyone knew this perfect weather would not last.

.

Sarge and Shelby joined me in the garden.   It was a lovely day to be outdoors.

Even though the visit was brief I am so happy this season stopped by.

(WIP - Summer's Delights)

Glad you did too!    Have a blessed evening.

Hugs Debbie

  2. If I didn't know better, I'd think we were living in the same place, our weather was just like yours, Mr France and I were outside sorting out what plants I could save from the hanging baskets for next year, I hated having to cut back the Fuchsias which still had lots of buds nearly ready to open, but it' needs to be done., Today was a visit to see the specialist, all was well, but I was not happy as it was a beautiful warm sunny day, and I wanted to be out in the garden to do more again today, maybe it was good to slow me down. But it looks like rain is coming to us.tomorrow. Oh well I can always paint.
Love the photo of your Marguerite.painting in progress..

  3. Indian summer, here, is "Saint Martin summer". San Martino was yesterday, but
... we've had rain and cold, only.
Maybe our indian summer was last weekend, so sweet and warm.
Or the summer of San Martino will be next?

I love your pictures and your watercolor in progress.
Happy days in your beautiful hills .Hugs, Rita.

  4. I think I missed our Indian Summer day but I am sure it had to be as pleasant as yours. It looks as if it inspired you to paint. I need something to inspire me... Your dogs look happy in the sunny day...but being shepherds they will probably also enjoy the Winter weather to come.

  17. I love the softness of your painting. We had a little touch of Indian Summer too. I was able to paint outside my car and even without a jacket on Monday. Of course today I'm bundled up again and they are including the "S" word in the weather forecast for tonight. I think they are wrong but they are saying a possibility. Enjoy!!!

  21. Isn't that last little surge from Mother Nature the best. Here is Southern California every time we think that fall is here with cooler weather then it heats up again for a week or so. Your photographs are charming and I like your light touch on your watercolors.

  24. Dearest Debbie Nolan! HELLO! Your Indian Summer sounds pretty much like ours...such a delight in those October days of elongated shadows but under a canopy of summer warmth and fall colors..such a juxtaposition of emotions! And then we get wholloped with SNOW! Yep, we now have a thin layer of snow but blasting cold....oh well, that's beautiful Minnesota for ya! Your sweet canine companions look as if they are really enjoying the outdoors!

Thank you so much Debbie for coming over to visit. May the rest of the month hold many possibilities through your imagination! Anita
