Books...

Books make wonderful friends.   They can encourage,  inspire, and change how you look at the world.

In almost every room in my home there is stack of them lying about.  It would seem strange to not have something to pick up and read.

When I was young I read mostly fiction.  Mysteries and romance novels were at the top of the list.   Now I more often choose something spiritual or uplifting that causes me to pause and think.
Hubby enjoys reading as well.  Often times we spend a rainy day browsing through a bookstore.

My personal library includes art-related subjects, gardening manuals, cookbooks and a few children's classics.

There is never a problem selecting something for a good bedtime story.

In fact I think it is time for me to go find a good book to close the day.

Have a good night.   God Bless!

  1. Oh I do love books myself. For years I traveled about with all my books. About 7 years ago, I donated most of them to the library. Sad but hopefully appreciated. I have a whole bookshelf (looks the same as yours in fact) full again and a couple of stacks on a nearby dresser.

  2. I have a special relationship with books too. They are like dear friends. However, I was surprised how quickly I fell in love with my Nook! I have a special relationship with it now too! Your photos are great. I recognize a few titles in there that I have too!

  3. I was an avid reader until my grandson was born and I started reading to him at bedtime and I would yawn to make him yawn and fall asleep.....LOL, now I can't read without yawning and getting very sleepy. I do love to listen to people like Joyce Meyer and have not trouble staying awake then. Hope your day is special!

  4. Wouldn't it be nice to have a reading circle blog.

I have more books than space to keep them.
    I like mysteries and nonfiction.

  5. I have 3 bookcases and numerous boxes full of books in the house. I, too, give them to libraries and to my mother, who reads them and passes them on. I love mysteries and Jodi Picoult and Barbara Kingsolver and Henning Mankell and...oh, way too many favorites to list!

  6. Mmmmhmmm...I sure can relate. When I was young, I was sure I was going to be a writer when I grew up. I love it that I got to pass that on to my son, who loves to read and write too.
I just bought two big books, and I'm savoring them lying there on one of my work tables-I can't wait to dive into them!

  8. I feel the same! Our house is overflowing with books! Once a friend asked me to help 'decorate' her book shelves in her new house. She had all sorts of little decorator items but when I asked where her books were, she had none! I was stunned! Seriously, not one book!
