Indian Summer

Indian Summer brushed the countryside this week-end.   It colored the sky with a blue haze.    Warm temperatures returned and we were given a bonus of a few lovely days.
Dick and I took the opportunity to take what may be the last motorcyle ride of the season.     We traveled south to the Atwood Lake Area.

There were a few fishermen out.

It seemed they were taking advantage of
November's last fling as well.

Walking beside the lake I paused to give thanks for our Veterans.  These special men and women in the armed forces have given so much.  Because of their great sacrifice I can enjoy the freedom of a day such as this.   What an honor and a privilege to be free.

Thank you to all who have served this country with love and great courage.

Not So Much Where We Went but Who...

We went riding one Sunday afternoon with our dear friends Mr. and Mrs. B.   They too have a motorcycle.   It is always fun to share a ride.  Our friendship spans over three decades.   We have made so many wonderful memories.   It is a such delight to spend time together.

Dick and I had been wanting to ride over to Beaver Creek State Park.   They had never been there.  It is about forty miles from our home.   The day was beautiful-no rain in the forecast.

The Park offers a shady place to picnic, fish and hike.   There are huge pines and a stream that meanders through the grounds.  What makes it even more special is the old restored Gaston Mill.  It was built in 1830.   It was part of the Canal system in the area.   There is a church, schoolhouse and a covered bridge from that bye-gone era as well.

In the summer the buildings are open for people to stroll through at their leisure.   There are a great many artifacts housed in the Mill.   The place is not only rich in beauty but in history.

Church and Schoolhouse

It was a delightful day.   Sharing a place makes it so memorable.   I am certainly glad to have had our good friends ride along.  Life's journey is made richer by friendship.   What a blessing from God.

Thanks for coming too.   May God bless your journey!

Where We Went...What We Saw... What Was Found

Sunday afternoon found us taking the motorcycle out for a spin.  We traveled to a little place called Scio.   It is nestled in the rolling hills of southern Ohio .  Dick and I often ride there because of the beautiful scenery.

We have went past this charming place many times but never found the time to stop.   Today they were open.
Antiques and treasurers were out back in the barn.
We were greeted by the welcoming committee as soon as we stepped inside.

Mouser

Angel
The loveliest couple in their 80's own the place.   They have been married for over 65 years.   We had a wonderful visit with them.  They shared some World War II pictures, tales from their courting days and even some local news.

As I browsed through shelves of old dishes and glassware I found the perfect prize.   It beckoned to me.  I heard it whisper "please take me with you."   My knight in shining armor knew I was smitten.  He reached for his wallet and this small treasure became mine.

Isn't he adorable?

I have the perfect spot for him - will share at a later post.

Hope all who stopped by enjoyed the trip.  Take care and God Bless!

Setting Earlier

The sun is setting earlier these days.   A month ago we saw dusk arrive at 9:00 and then a few weeks ago it was 8:30 and now it is 8:00.   ...
