Holiday Madness

My hubby and I managed to avoid the holiday madness that takes place the day after Thanksgiving.  We spent time relaxing - enjoyed a lively game of Scrabble...a trip to the library and a delicious salad from Subway.   Whatever bargains were missed cannot hold a candle to the simple pleasure of  a quiet day savoring some relaxation before the Christmas Season arrives.

Wishing all of you some peaceful time as well.

Hugs

Debbie

    Amen to that!

  2. I can remember the crowds in the stores in Downtown Atlanta so many years ago. Glad to be at home on a cold rainy weekend! Have a nice week.

  3. I also opted to skip the madness and stay out of the stores. To me the "bargains" are not worth the stress of being out with so many people. I went to a quiet location and did some sketching and then went to the library to receive artwork for a show one of my art groups is doing there. Have a wonderful and peaceful week!

  4. Debbie, smart lady to stay in and enjoy the day at home...
I didn't leave the house either. It's fine with me.

  5. We don't do much shopping. It certainly doesn't intrigue me to get out among them. Your day sounds perfectly lovely. Carry on...

  6. We too took a nice day of rest with leftover turkey chili .... no shopping for us -- we did an early shopping trip before the madness. Enjoy the quiet of the season!

  8. It sounds like you had a perfect day. I don't understand all the madness that takes place on Black Friday.

  9. Your way sounds just right.
It always seems strange to me, one day being grateful for what folks have and then the next day spent pushing and shoving in order to get more... things.
    All the best xx

  10. Good for you, my friend!! At my house, too, we had a quiet, restful day away from the urgency of a Black Friday craziness! Such a welcome reprieve!

  12. That's nice that you spent a carefree day with your husband the day after Thanksgiving. It can be really crowded out there with traffic and all, and I always like to enjoy staying home with the simple pleasures. The salad from Subway sounds really good. Your red rose is beautiful, and it made my heart sing. Enjoy this special Christmas season, Debbie.

  14. Yes, that was the best way to spend the day! Quiet here, too, and no complaints about that:)

i think it is related to our attitude that change with time and we like to explore our inner world than one around :)

  18. What a wonderful way to spend the day...sounds like something we would do too. :) We celebrate Thanksgiving in October here in Canada but we can't escape the dreaded "Black Friday" that's sadly come to our country. I unfortunately had to go to a mall in the big city not realizing what day it was. I was so relieved to finally escape and get back to our little town.

  19. It was also quiet here...radio ads are crazy, using Christmas as a theme for sales and shopping. It's nice when the true gifts of the season are spiritual...I do get lured by sales, but I'm trying to stay more centered this year...
