Sunday Afternoon Drive

Hubby and I took a Sunday afternoon drive.   We traveled dirt roads and climbed rolling hills...

spotted an old abandoned railroad car with a proper sign close by ...

found a cleared path through the woods...

caught site of a lovely church in the distance...

and found this tree growing out of a rock.

What is amazing is all these were within less than ten miles from home.  Just proves there are wonderful sites in one's own back yard.

Thank you for taking time to visit.   Hope you enjoyed the Sunday afternoon drive.
Have a blessed week.

Hugs Debbie

  4. You really do live in a gorgeous part of the country. The beautiful church is a perfect picture post card view...and it amazes me how all our trees are green - so far ahead of yours. I forget that just because it is Spring doesn't mean green trees. You must have all the blossoms out. Love seeing them.
Thanks for all these lovely pictures. Have a great week, my friend.

  6. Look at all of those wonderful things that are so close by! Very nice and how much do I love that railroad car? I thought it would be such a fun studio. (Maybe if it was sealed and insulated?) We take drives like this also and I always find them very soothing. In fact, Rich puts me in the car sometimes to calm me down!

    Have a good week, Debbie!

    Thanks,
    Libby

  9. Wow! I loved seeing what you saw-the landscape looks very much like ours. We don't have many places where there are huge rocks like that, though. Have a wonderful week too!

  11. Nature will find a way. I've seen trees growing in a rock and ones that I tenderly planted and cared for didn't make it. I bet that was a fun little trip for you.

  12. Haven't been on a Sunday drive in many years! Brings back good memories of a setting as yet unspoiled by modern infrastructure. Truly a delightful tradition for families to carry on!!

  13. We love to take Sunday drives, too, in the summer. And we can still find places we have never been "in our own backyard" although we have lived here 37 years! So glad you enjoyed your drive - as did I! (Looks like the country around Hillsboro, OH)

  14. My family used to drive the country roads in Minnesota and listen to "The Shadow Knows" on the radio. We all had such fun. Great memories too.

  15. Just glad you re sharing all these beautiful spots with us Debbie. I guess most people have lovely places near them, all we need to do is open our eyes long enough to appreciate them. Hope the weather gets warm enough so we can go and drive around also. Hugs

  18. What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon! My grandfather and I used to climb into his old Chevy pickup and meander up and down mountain roads, some paved, some not, when I stayed with them during the summer months. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

  23. I agree that sometimes we don't have to travel far from home to find beautiful scenery. I love the tree growing from the rock and have seen lots of them in our province's woods. They are very strong and persistent aren't they. Have a great day! Pam
