Soon!

I am thinking that soon I will be putting these winter boots away.   Hopefully they will be traded for some lighter sneakers.

This page in my sketchbook was prompted by a wonderful book I read this winter.

"One thousand gifts" by Ann Voskamp touched my heart.    Sometimes God puts special books in one's hand just when needed.   This was one of those times.

In her book Ann shares her journey and the listing of one thousand gifts.    She knows how to go to the heart of gratitude even when being grateful seems difficult.

One Thousand Gifts is a lovely link to visit.   At the top you can select "blog" and you will be able to read more about Ann and her friends.

Speaking of gifts...this snowdrop was today's.    It tells me spring will be here soon!

So glad you stopped by.

Hope everyone has a delightful week.

Hugs Debbie

  1. Debbie, your sketches are a gift to us. I love coming here because it is always a joy to see what has captured your attention and that you are always so positive and grateful for what is around you. How is your recovery going?

  2. Anything with a nest captures my heart and your recommendation makes it a MUST HAVE! Thanks for sharing.
Loved your sketch of a boot and
laughed at what you wrote...these boots are made for walking. I enjoyed that song back in the day and my memory says it was sung by Nancy Sinatra?
Hope your mother is doing better

  3. You have snowdrops! What a beautiful, miraculous gift right there! And you know what? I didn't put my boots away today, but I did put my winter parka away. Although... I'll probably take it to the dry cleaners next week before it gets put away for good. Love your photos, and the drawing!

  6. Hello Debbie. First I must thank you for the lovely post you dedicated to me last week. I'm only to happy to have been able to send you some of the things I enjoy. I loved the sketch you showed of your boot, and hope you will be putting them away until next winter. The snow drop is a good sign, although they don't last very long they are so pretty en-mass. No sketching being done on this side of the ocean at the moment, I'm too busy trying to get the garden back after a year of neglect. But everything takes me twice as long to do now. How are you now after your bad fall, Was it necessary to have surgery ? I hope not. Take care.

  7. What a wonderful post, Debbie! I love seeing the snowdrop too. Haven't seen any flowers outside here yet, but somehow we're supposed to hit 74 today. Last week early on was cold, the week before very cold. People will be getting sick because of the extremes. Thank you for the link!

  8. Oh, love that boot...remind me of Van Gogh...You have snowdrops, we just had snow flakes...I admit I was not exactly grateful for them...today, grateful for gorgeous sun on the white snow though. I will look up that book, that is a key to living, to notice & accept gifts...Thank you.

  9. I'll bet you're counting the days! That snow drop is so pretty. I think it would be fun to watch for the little things that mean spring is coming, though I'm pretty sure I'd be hopeless in a snowy climate, since I've never lived in snow. Hope you're in those sneakers soon!

  10. A lovely and hopeful post, Debbie. This year has been quite a winter experience for much of our country. I'm so glad you're seeing signs of Spring such as those snowdrops. Here, the main sign is nesting. Doves, finches, hummingbirds, etc. are building their nests like crazy. Our hummingbirds returned this year and built a new nest on a different bicycle pedal hanging in our garage. There are two little hummers in it already, and the parent(s) are busy feeding them. I love it!

    ❀ Gros bisous ❀

  23. Spring comes slowly, it seems that everything is ready ... but still, they return the cold and rain and, on the mountains, more snow ... but we know that the days are getting longer and the violets have sprouted among the dry leaves. ..
We know that spring is upon us and winter is past.
    What a beauty!
