"Rainy Days & Mondays"

I am sharing one of my favorite songs from the 70's "Rainy Days and Mondays" by the Carpenters.   It seems appropriate since we have had several days of rain here.

There are certain lyrics and music that transports one to another time and place.   This one takes me back to the front porch of my childhood home.   It was where the old turn-style record player was kept.  ( Remember those?  If one moved too much the needle would jump.) There was a comfortable rocking settee close by.  It was a favorite spot to curl up to read and listen to all those great songs that still remain classics today.

Actually rainy days don't get me down.  They provide extra time to work in the studio.  It is a great opportunity to draw and paint those spring flowers that the showers have brought.

Thank you for letting me share a favorite song and a few memories.   May your "Rainy Days and Mondays" not get you down!   Have a wonderful evening and God Bless you all.

  2. Hi Debbie, Thanks for your rainy day memories. I Love that song from the Carpenters and it made me feel more content with life as this past week has been full of rainy days.. Such a pretty painting you are working on. Unfortunately some of our rain came with strong winds and has swiped a lot of the blossom from the trees.

  3. Debbie, I love rainy days (as you know). I sure wish we had rain right now. There must be an arsonist running loose...there are fires all around us, thankfully small, although there is an 900 acre one burning in Etiwanda, about thirty miles from us. I don't think I'll be sleeping much tonight.

I love your painting of dogwood blossoms that you're working on!

    Blessings,

    Victoria

  5. Your painting is beautiful, Debbie. No surprise to me; your gentle spirit comes through each painting.

I love this song and Karen's voice...I just felt super sad listening to it...days that are long gone and that will never return...a lost soul gone too soon...

  6. Lovely post today Debbie. Ah, we have spring showers too all week long......we are wet, wet and more wet. Hubby said last night "at least it isn't snow." Ha, ha, ha. Maybe after this rain is done everything will bloom here all at once. I love to paint or write when it's rainy too. When I wasn't painting, years ago, and writing more I'd hunker down with pots of tea and the old Smith Corona typewriter and pump out some wonderful poems. I think I miss that.

Your pictures and painting are beautiful. There's something about an Ohio fog that doesn't feel dreary. Its magical.

  12. Nice work on your dogwood painting, so pretty! Your garden is still lovely, even in the rain! We are having the same dreary weather here, can't wait for the sun again. Always loved Karen C's voice, such a shame about her.

  17. Didn't Karen Carpenter have a beautiful voice?

We're experiencing a rainy Friday right now, but it's OK as I'm sure we need the moisture. I don't have to go anywhere today; in fact, I need to stay home and get some things done. If I get what I need done, I'll reward myself with a reading break and listen to the rain!

  19. Lovely misty, rainy look to the photos. I love that song. My husband and I listen to music every night with dinner and last night he was playing a Carpenter's CD. I remember those record players and sometimes having to put a penny on the arm to make it play correctly. Nice memories of the music and those times.
