Garden Fever

Every year I manage to catch garden fever.   It comes generally in the spring and remains through the end of May.  It could linger into June.

The symptoms are always the same. There is a need to dig...pull up weeds and plant something that grows.  If these requirements are not met it leads to a serious situation.

One gets very grumpy and down in the dumps.

Thankfully rough hands, tired back and sunburn  will lead to a quick recovery.

Yesterday I received my first dose of medicine.   It was a lovely day for digging and weeding.
Some extra help showed up.
Unfortunately my way of digging and hers differed a bit.   Together we managed to get the job done.

After a long afternoon of work we took a break.

A bit of reading for me...

for the help some down time with a friend.

I hear that this garden fever is very contagious.   Please be careful this is the season for it.    If you happen to get it just let me know and I will send you someone to help!

Have a blessed week.   Thanks for the visit.

  1. I love your gardening journal. I was given a beautiful watercolour book for Christmas and have only painted a few pages in it. I think I know what to do with it now. Wonderful idea.

  3. I can imagine how satisfying gardening is in crisp spring weather -- I used to love doing it in Canada! Here though, it's something you want to get done as fast as possible -- do whatever you have to at dawn or in the evening lol

  4. Your journal is so lovely and what a great way to record your flourishing efforts in the garden. You put me to shame though Debbie as I never seem to catch this Garden Fever. The only fever I catch is Hay Fever... :-)

  6. I wish my thumb hadn't turned black. I used to do a mean job of keeping plants going and now? No matter how much care I give them, I can't save them. Sigh... I wonder if my hydrangeas will come back to life? Right now they look like little dead stick bushes.

  11. I've been really lazy with gardening this year but sometimes we plant things too early and then we get a very strong wind and it destroys everything.

  15. Beautiful new header - I love the flowers! And I love seeing your sketches - a wonderful page celebrating spring! We just started hearing the peepers too! But I have mostly given up on gardening here, in these mountains, in the woods mostly, hard clay soil, cool wet summers, it's almost always a disaster :-)

  20. Love, love love the gorgeous header! Virgina Bluebells are my Favorite spring flower and mine are blooming now, as well. Yes, that fever is contagious, and it really lasts for weeks and weeks, until the HEAT appears. I see you have a "helper"; those guys are great for digging holes. Ours can dig all the way to China! (I love your garden notebook)
