Playing in the Studio

I have been playing in the studio.   There are times when one just has to splash some water and paint together and take whatever comes.

Revisiting Nita Leland's "the New Creative Artist" helped inspire me to relax and enjoy creating.   This book not only explores ways to develop your own artistic voice but features  many wonderful artists.   One of those is a blogging buddy Julie Ford Oliver at  juliefordoliver.blogspot.com.     Hope you will pay this lovely lady a visit.   Her art is awesome!

One activity Nita suggests is making a treasure chest for your collectibles.

A recycled gift box has now become mine.

I am learning that being creative is so much more than just painting or making art.   It is living each day focusing on doing something out of the ordinary.

May God Bless all of you and your unique endeavors.
Have a great day!

  1. Good grief -- your "playing" and "splashing" is a full-blown, gorgeous work of art!

  2. Debbie, I love your beautiful bluejays! I agree with you, being creative can be expressed in so many ways during the course of a day. From the way you arrange a dinner table, the style of your clothing or hair, and the way your home appears in each and every room. It is so much more than paint and canvas.

  5. Great post

Love the box idea. I've made jars for momentos. A box on the wall will be fun.
Today I'm going to put out color washes outdoors for Jack Frost to nip them into patterns. I got the idea from Diana M. Davis' blog.

  13. I would love to be able to splash some paint together and make art like you. One of my art goals is to start adding color to my doodles...maybe try oil painting some. I like the box treasure chest idea. kind of like being a child again when every find was a treasure.

  17. I think that is the secret, just to enjoy and have some fun experimenting. I really like your collection of treasures and I can see all the lovely walks you have nearby to find them.
I have the Janet Marshs Nature Diary, loved it when I bought it so many years ago, a really beautiful book.
It is lovely to find you have visited and left such nice comments. Enjoy your paintings, the pretty birds and flowers feel like spring is coming.
