"O Holy Night"

One of my favorite Christmas songs is "O Holy Night".  Mariah Carey's performance is lovely .  May you enjoy it also.

As December begins its countdown to this beautiful season of hope and joy - am wishing each of you a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Will be seeing you "God willing" in 2023.

Sorry

I am very sorry this post is late.  Life happens and we all have had moments when we have to shift our plans and make new ones.  This week was one of those times for me.

Hope everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving had a lovely holiday.  May everyone have a delightful start to the Christmas season.

Due to so much happening in the next couple of weeks...may not be posting as usual.  Will do my best.

In the meantime everyone have a lovely week.

Hugs

Giving Thanks

I am giving thanks for morning's light...

Woody Woodpecker's visit...

a sunny November vista...

summer's fruit that gave us -

a Thanksgiving pie.

Last but not least I am giving thanks for family and all of you, my dear friends.

God Bless!

Really?

Can it be really?  Yes friends, it is snow and I am not ready!

Just a week ago it was in the high 60's, warm and sunny.  Today it is in the low 30's and cold.

The Calendula are saying "we are not ready either".

I don't think the cosmos have ever been blooming this late in the season. For sure never when it has snowed.

Guess it is here whether we are ready or not.

Definitely time for a warm cup of cider.

Hope everyone has a wonderful end to your week.

Last Hurrah!

Autumn has given us her last hurrah.  It was a lovely one too.

This photo was taken at the end of October.  Now that treeline is bare.

The first few days of November have been gorgeous and warm.  This trend is not to last.  By Friday we will see cooler temps and rain coming our way.  Also there are whispers Saturday and Sunday might bring a winter mix.

Early this morning I grabbed my camera and caught the full moon.  It was even more magnificent last evening.  Unfortunately didn't get a chance to take a photo.

Butternut squash is a perfect fall dish.  I baked this at 425 degrees for approx. 1 hour.  That makes the shell so soft and one can cut it in half easily.

 Then scoop out the seeds...

Add some butter, salt and pepper, or sprinkle a little bit of brown sugar and cinnamon and you have a delicious dish.

It makes a great substitute for recipes that call for pumpkin such as pie, bread or muffins.  I can never tell the difference.

Well sweet friends I hope all of you are enjoying autumn's last hurrah!  Have a wonderful end to your week.

Hugs  Debbie

Cozy Chat

Pull up a comfy chair, grab something hot to drink and lets have a cozy chat about this and that!

I am enjoying Paul Newman's delicious sweet cinnamon spice tea.  No caffeine and no sugar...a perfect drink for a bed time beverage.  My brother gave me a box to sample.  Glad he did.  It is now a favorite of mine.

Hubby caught this lovely pink sky the other morning.  There is something special about sunrise this time of the year.  As the days shorten seeing the day's first light makes one want to savor those sweet early moments.

That butternut squash I shared in a previous post ended up in a moist quick bread. What a good treat and healthy too!😉

Zinnias and blue forget- me- not flowers continue to bloom into the first days of November.  Ah it is hard to believe there is only two months of 2022 remaining.

Little Kelsey did very well with her first lesson.  She is already beginning to show better behavior.

Well friends thank you so much for taking time to stop and chat.  Hope everyone has a cozy start to November.

Golden Glow

October's golden glow is beginning to fade.  The rain and wind has brought down so many leaves.

Already the woodland floor is covered.   This happening occurs every year.  Sometimes it is slow and gentle.  Today though it was fast and furious.  They fell all at once.

The cosmos don't seem to mind the weather.  In fact they appear to be enjoying their breezy dance.

It looks like these two decided to stick their tongues out at the blustery day. (Or maybe it was that silly woman behind the camera). Between showers they were able to get in a romp or two.  (As you can see Kelsey is out on parole.  Her behavior is showing signs of improvement.  She starts puppy school Saturday.  There may be a possibility in the near future she will be set free.  Only time will tell)😉!

Well I will leave you for now.  Hope each and everyone of you are enjoying October's final glow.

Believe

Photo taken by Hubby

It is hard to believe that it is already the middle of October.  Our autumn colors have peaked.  They were very lovely this year.    The past couple of days have been wet and quite cold.   Mornings have been in the mid 30's and the daytime high's in the 40's.  Not ready for these cooler temperatures.

Been gathering in the last of the harvest.

There was a bountiful supply of green tomatoes remaining.  Did not want them to go to waste.  Decided to try a new recipe...Green Tomato Relish.   When winter flies in the door it will be nice to open "a jar of summertime ".

Also been doing some sketching trying to capture some of the special gifts that October brings.

Well dear friends have a great end to your week.

Would love to know what is happening in your part of the world.

Great Day

What a great day for a motorcycle ride.  Hubby and I couldn't resist .  This day  needed to be seized and savored.

We saw Crimson Reds...

peachy oranges...

Golden yellows...

and all these against the bluest sky.

As we rode country roads Travis Tritt's song came to mind "A Great Day to Be Alive"

Thought maybe you might enjoy hearing it.  Hope you have a great day too!

An October Walk

There is something so lovely about an October walk.

Those first color changes that dot the hillside seem to pop.

Oak leaves transitioning from green to other hues can be seen along the way.

If you look up you may spot the moon peaking through the blue.

What can be nicer on a walk than to have some company.

Schindler likes to stop and take a rest.

Not so this miss.  She is saying  "Come on. Hurry up you two slow pokes."

Well I guess we need to be on our way if we are going to finish our October walk.

Hope all of you have a lovely end to your week.

Change

Decided to change my posting day to Wednesdays for a bit.

It seems like Sundays can be rather hectic. Thought it might be nice to try a midweek post.

Speaking of change you can see our puppy Kelsey is beginning to do a little transformation.  I am thinking that eventually she will grow into those ears.

As the days grow shorter and cooler there just may be more time to catch up on some reading.

I have enjoyed both Colleen Coble and Karen White's books in the past.  Have never read any of Sarah Strohmeyer's novels.  This particular one is a thriller - hoping it will keep me turning the page.

Well thank you all for stopping by to visit.

Are any of you making changes in your routine?  If so - hope you will share.

Gentle Transition

I often think that here in our part of the world September brings a gentle transition from summer to fall.

This week the autumn equinox arrives.  Already the days have grown shorter and the evenings cooler.

Misty mornings...

Orange pumpkins...

Golden sunflowers...

all these and so much more lead us gently from summer into fall.

Hope each of you are encountering a gentle transition of one season into the other.

Hugs

Debbie

Favorite

This certainly has to be my favorite season of the year.  I do adore autumn but spring takes the prize. As hubby commented spring is the be...
