"A Day out of Time"

There are special days that come when the hours and minutes are not counted.  They are "a day out of time".

Peaceful moments that flow like a lazy stream ...

or a winding path with sun dappling the way.

Where wonder finds our inner child.

When hope whispers "it is just around the bend".

Then one catches a glimpse of the beauty of "a day out of time".

"The Lord is my shepherd I shall not be in want.   He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.  He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake."

Psalm 23: 1-3 (NIV)

May you all have a lovely week.
God Bless!

"Grabbing the Muse by the Throat"

Wendy Barrett's inspiring book "Grabbing the Muse by the Throat" arrived this week.   It was a delight to hear that I had won a copy.

The year is 2011 and Wendy has embarked on a creative journey.    It is a wonderful tale of overcoming procrastination, and generally focusing on accomplishing the things that matter in our lives.

Wendy generously shares her own personal tips on how to set realistic goals that will lead to success.  For all who struggle to find time to create this is a great read.

I am always delighted to visit Wendy at her lovely blog.   She lives in Australia and many times she features her beautiful part of the world in her posts.  Hope any who have not visited her will take the time to stop over and say hello.

The gorgeous card beside her book is a copy of one of Wendy's original paintings.

Thank you dear friend for your wonderful gift .  I am so enjoying it.

May all of you have a blessed week.

Got to go now.  Have some more reading to do.

Hugs!  Debbie

"Dog Days of Summer"

We are so glad you stopped to visit.   We've just been informed that these are the "Dog Days of Summer".   Why would that be?   Our preference is to have it much cooler.

Certainly our mistress doesn't seem to enjoy it.   She has been lamenting that the dry weather and the heat have caused all the lovely flowers to wilt.

There are a few lilies and garden phlox left to make a show.

Woody Woodpecker has been spending more time in the shade.  He comes early in the day before the sun gets too hot or later towards evening.

The tomato horn worm decided the heat was too much and  left the garden.    His departure certainly was appreciated.

Madam Butterfly however doesn't seem to be in the least put out by the sticky temperatures.   She continues to enjoy her afternoon's fragrant feast.

Well we hope you enjoyed your time here.   Please take a tip from us. Find a shady spot to rest during these "Dog Days of Summer".

Have a lovely week.

Hugs from all of us at Harmony Hills!

An Old Hymn

"Great Is Thy Faithfulness" is an old hymn that has been running through my mind these past few days.

The words really speak to my heart.  Hope they speak to yours too.

"Great is Thy faithfulness," O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;

Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;  As Thou has been Thou forever wilt be.

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above, Join with all nature in manifold witness, To thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;  Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! "Morning by Morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided -

"Great is Thy faithfulness," Lord, unto me!

May everyone has a blessed week.

Sounds of August

July's sketch page
Yes the sounds of August are here.   The locust and Katydid have arrived.

They greeted me as July started its last hurrah!

Even the Blue Moon got its welcome from them.

Garden Phlox,

colorful zinnias,

and golden sunflowers seem happy to hear their song.

I know I am.   How about you?

Have a blessed week!

Hugs Debbie
